Hi everyone. I have been trying to catch up on some of the postings.

I hope Laurie and Alice feel better soon. You and I know it will take

time. I understand how hard it is to slow down. I have been down and

out since I had this stomach virus in February. I have missed a lot

of work and my days at home have been spent sleeping and resting. I

am finally starting to feel a little better though. My mother had

surgery this week and I helped my father take care of her for 2 days.

That put me back a couple of days but as I told my Mother, it was

worth it feel like I could help for once instead of everyone always

trying to take care of me.

I have not been posting for quite a while. I can not remember that

last time I actually posted. My daughter got married in 8/02, my

father had a heart attach and had open heart surgery less than a week

after my daughter's wedding. I was out of it for about 3 months.

Stress takes it out of me big time.

I have starting doing craft things, like painting figures, like

snowmen, angels, whatever I can find. I have scrapbook things but

have not started on that yet. I find that painting is a stress

reliever for me. I have a very stressful job and its nice to come

home, no kids, (our son moved out in Feb), and do what I want till my

hubby gets home.

I have been reading posts on dizziness. Since February I have been

having episodes of something like a rush feeling going from my legs

to my head, I get very, very dizzy and feel like I am going to be

sick. I am unable to do anything while this is going on. I told Dr.

Cohen in March that it lasts from 5 minutes to a half hour or more. I

feel the effects of it for quite a while after the main attack. Dr

Cohen is weaning me off of Elavil, which I take to help me sleep. I

will see Dr. in June again to see how I am doing then. I am not

sleeping as good as I was.

I hope that everyone that has been ill gets better soon. I hope that

spring will help everyone feel a little better. This has been a long

winter for us in Ohio.

Take care and rest when possible, the story of our lives.

  • 5 years later...

Since the kids have been off school for 2 weeks, I haven't checked emails or sent any.

I just wanted to run this by everyone as far as 's latest stuff.

She's been on the diet for 3 months now. She has celiac and a thyroid issue and had the over the top anxiety and was off school for 3 months. She started the diet on October 1 and started school finally on December 1.

The latest is this. She was having sharp pains every few days and I was getting real scared. We went to a chiropractor that the nutritionist recommended and also a DO last Friday. The chiropr. said Rach was having colon spasms and he adjusted her colon and she had alot of inflammation on her spine. She had one pain a few days later and really has been better regarding the sharp pains. We saw the DO who is a doctor and yet totally deals with natural stuff. She's going to run tests to see where her thyroid levels are and where her bacteria levels are in the gut. (She had an overgrowth of bacteria and that is why she's on this diet). So, I feel like we're on the right track with the nutritionist, chiropr, and DO and they all seem to know each other and work with each other in a way.

She cheated a few times in these last few weeks. Had a sip of a shake, had a sip of hot cocoa, had a bite of gluten free cake, etc. and did ok. Yesterday, she had quite a bit of apple juice and then diarrhea last night. (and it was her 14th birthday).

So, no more apple juice obviously. and no more cheating.

My concern right now is her weight. She's around 99 lbs. and 5 feet. Her clothes are hanging on her. It's scaring me.

I am going to see if she can get cleared for goat's milk by a chiropr. and then start doing the yogurt with goat's milk. I think that will help her with her weight from what I've read on here by all of you.

I was going to buy the Yogourmet per a woman who lives by me on the diet and she will show me how to make it. Plus use the giprohealth starter. ( I think that is what it's called).

I'm still depressed, stressed and crying all the time regarding this. When it's your kid, it's so much worse than if I was going thru all of this myself.

I guess I just wanted to touch base with everyone on here. and get any feedback of my comments. I always appreciate them.

(She has the food intolerance to dairy and goat's milk, by the way.)

It was wrapped in plastic, so wasn't affected by the rotting -- and it made excellent yogurt. Only thing I did salvage of my SCD food.... <sigh>

Here is another few questions. I just looked on the websites and can't come up with these 2 supplements. Is solution of magnesium legal? It's magnesium chloride with lactic acid in it. It's liquid.

Also, I see inositol is illegal. But I have a supplement called inositol powder that is for anxiety. Not sure if that is the sugar alcohol that the BTVC website mentions.

Also, is ginger and ginger root legal?

Like I said, I looked these up but can't seem to figure it out.

I have to take a magnesium supplement regularly. I find that

magnesium glycinate or magnesium citrate are better tolerated. I have

to mix my magnesium in water to get my upper GI to tolerate it, so I

just buy magnesium in a capsule form, then open the capsule and mix it

in water. I prefer the magnesium glycinate capsules I'm getting from

Kirkman Labs, but I occasionally try a different form of magnesium.

The key for me is to mix it in water or in my electrolyte drink.

Getting magnesium capsules and then emptying the powder into water is

a lot cheaper than the Solution of magnesium you mention.....

I would personally stay away from lactic acid, but it is OK on SCD.

My impression is that inositol used to treat anxiety disorders is OK,

but it depends on the form you are using, whether there any illegal

binders or additives. If it's just a powder, then it is probably OK.

Since I developed Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction I get extreme

panic/anxiety attacks, but I'm finding Lexapro helping (started it 3

months ago). I expect your doctor has considered other anxiety meds.

and feels inositol is the best, but you might check with him/her in

case doesn't tolerate inositol.

As others have mentioned, ginger and ginger root is OK on SCD. As

long as your body (or ) tolerates it. Mine doesn't anymore...
