Yes, at least dreams, the vividness, and the amount you remember seem to vary with thyroid function. When hyper I'd wake myself up, almost invariably getting killed in all action dreams. I think it is just the dreaming brain trying to incorporate the racing heart rate into the dream. This morning I was shooting terrorists in my dreams, not sure this was a hyper symptom more likely a result of waking up at 4 AM and watching an hour long documentary on the hunt for the sender of the Anthrax letters, before retiring again. Have a look in the archive for dreams. When I was very hyper I would have disturbing dreams, very nasty and unpleasant, more gruesome horror than action thrillers. Now what happened to the very realistic X-rated dreams (or is that R rated in the US?), they seem to have gone, hohum. I think it is true what they say about Cheese and dreams, anyone for a fondue party?

I have been having terrible dreams. I thought it was the Inderal I was on. I dreamed about Tyler of Aerosmith the other night. Never even thought about the guy before. My rocker days are long behind me. Sandy

When I am hyper, I never remember my dreams, maybe because of the lack of sleep...but when I am hypO, I have the very worst nightmares in the world. Plus I wake up almost every hour on the hour when hypO. Guest guest
I had wonderful vivid dreams all my life, and they increased in intensity as I became more hyper. Then adding the beta blocker , with a side affect of vivid dreams..well let me tell you. Those dreams were so wonderful I spent the first few hours of every day still fascinated my last nights dream. And in the evening, even though I knew I would be not getting enough sleep, back there in the beginning, I went to bed anxious to have another wonderful dream. We discussed this before, and for the new folks , you could go back in the archives. It was an interesting discussion. Seems like it was this last spring ? If you are not having good dreams, and still in this phase, you may want to focus on what you want to dream bout as you are falling asleep, as you can learn to direct your dreams. Now...my question. Has anyone else lost all their dreams when hypo ? I want my dreams back. :-( -Pam L -

This is a new one for me... Not to eat cheese before going to bed as it gives you nightmares (well makes the dreams more vivid anyway), this is ancient folk wisdom, no idea if it is supported by science, but it seems to work. Guest guest
Simon, I never heard that one--nor can I remember the last time I ate cheese before going to bed! but I'll be sure not to, now!
