Hello. My name is Jaima and I am new to this group and the South Beach

Diet. I'm still reading and researching, but I am starting to really

think this way of eating will work well for me. I'm not looking for

a 'diet'...more for a 'way of life' to eat...hope that makes sense,

lol. I am 30 years old...soon to be 31. I am 5'5 " and currently weigh

158. I also am having some issues with my thyroid that the doctor and

I are working to get under control. But...I also know that I don't eat

right or exercise like I should. Well...today is a whole new day and

it's my 'change day' and I am going to start getting healthy again.

Well, just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I've already learned

a lot from reading past posts on this group...thanks!

Jaima

Hi there,

I'm a dietitian who firmly believes in intuitive eating.  In fact, emotional eating is one of the biggest overlooked areas in " weight management " in general.

That being said, I've had to fight and fight and fight with both my patients and my fellow dietitians to take intuitive eating seriously.  There are many that I will never convince but I do what I can in my little corner of the world.  I'm also the mother of three daughters and I want them to grow up with a normal relationship with food and their bodies.  No small task in this society.

Good luck and welcome!

Hi everyone! I'm new here so I thought that I'd tell you all a little about myself. I am twenty-four years old and just graduated from college in August with a degree in dietetics. Although I am not a dietitian yet, I am working towards it. I have been dieting for quite a while now, but probably not as long as some others here. I was an overweight child and teenager, but became a vegan (for ethical reasons) when I reached college. I lost a lot of weight without any effort due to this change, but then this slowed. I began counting calories to continue losing weight. I am still a vegan (and will be forever!) and committed to healthy eating, but would like to eat more intuitively instead of stuffing myself with baked goods, etc.

After I become a dietitian and learn to eat intuitively I would like to help others to learn how to be intuitive eaters. Since learning about intuitive eating I have realized that this is my ultimate goal.

I'm glad to know the two don't have to be separate, that you can be a dietitian and follow IE. Thanks Sandy

That's inspiring and so interesting to hear Christie! I hope you don't feel frustrated or let down too much. Even if you can't make a large difference in your little corner of the world, you will in the lives of your daughters!
