Cyndie,

Welcome to the group. I'm glad you found us, we are a group of nice people

whom pretty much are in the same situation as you as far as pain ......I am

also 41 have had fibro for probably 20 years. It is a very difficult illness

to deal with. I basically have alot of the same complaints and more.It helps

alot too if you have a dr. that understands fibro and is willing to listen

to

you that's the first step. You'll find alot of compassion and caring here

and

get alot of good advice and support. I hope your filing for SSI goes in your

favor it can be a difficult process just so you know and can be prepared for

a bit of a fight. Hang in there and keep posting....

Hi,

Yes I feel like I take too much medicine but I have to say I take alot less

now then I did years ago...at one point I was taking 12 different meds over

30 pills in one day so right now I feel lucky! I have had times where I feel

as though I am going to have a nervous break down too so your not alone...

and yes It is very hard to deal with and hard for my family to understand me

and what I go through on a daily basis. I honestly don't think they ever

will.

As far as your telephone interview just make sure you let them know how bad

your pain is, that it is very much the whole day and that you dont get to do

much around the house. Not trying to tell you to lie but they will ask what

do you do all day? What kind of pain? how often? who does things for you, do

you get help those sorts of questions and unfortunately we have to exagerate!

These people at S.S. are tough so this is what you have to do. Some others

may disagree with me and maybe not! Anyway good luck and let me know how it

goes......don't be nervous.......easy for me to say I know.....lol

likes it there because I've never met him, but I'm meeting him tommorow for

the first time. Should be interesting.

Hi ,

Today I phoned and they are sending an applicationform to apply for a

scooter. Here in Holland we don't have shops to try them out. I felt

very nervous only phoning and really hope I will go through with it,

and that I will get one to borrow and USE!! I believe in the states

it works different. Did you read the message about the " Harley

scooter " I think that will work for me to, making the scooter part of

me. What I find most difficult is that I am still able to walk small

distances, so people really look strange when I get out of my

wheelchair/scooter( in the future). I know that shouldn't disturb me,

but I always feel like explaining my condition, and on the other hand

I don't want to owe explanation to strangers.

Isn't it lovely how much encouragement we get in this group. It's

nearlly like going for an examination!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for your decision!

Bye

Muriel

Congratulations on the first step. Even if you aren't ready for step two

(sending it in) for awhile, that is okay. This is a big step and you will

have to grieve over your lost of function. It takes time. Just remember that

we are here with encouragement whenever you need it.
