Point of Humor, how to be humble, I'm still trying to learn this lesson

I finally got my blood work (12 vials of blood) and a 20+ page packet including

3 generation of family history, renal biopsy report, physician reports etc, etc

off to Mount Sinai for the Fabry testing yesterday. Can only do this on a

Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. Had to reschedule 2 hours of stuff at work to get

it done, because I had to ship it carefully and make sure it arrived by 12:00

noon today. Guess what, I received a call from Mount Sinai today. They

tracked the package (which was meticulously wrapped and addressed) and the

postal service said, " Could not deliver " so they returned it to my home. (!) Oh

well, better luck next week, when I have all 12 vials redrawn and shipped again,

for another $23.00. The research coordinator sounded so down in the dumps, I

said, oh, don't be so down, you should see how many 24 hour urines they've lost

on me (actually I don't believe it was the postal service that was at fault

regarding the urine specimens, I believe it was actually

the lab in New Jersey. Bummer heh, I guess I still haven't learned the lesson

on how to be humble yet, as I keep getting this lesson over and over. Still

counting my blessings though. And trying to maintain a sense of humor (?!).

Oh man Bonnie I think I would have been livid for a few moments there...then

I would have laughed my butt off. Hey that's one way to get that swelling

down and keep your b/p under control but I thought the medical profession

gave up blood letting years ago. ;o) I hope this next round goes smoother

and arrives without a hitch.

How are you feeling these days? Hope you are doing well...we still need to

work out a day to meet up.

Bonnie,

I had to read your post three time with my jaw dropping further each time as

it all sunk in! I think this has less to do with lessons in humility than

it has to do with the ineptness of the delivery service. If you're

maintaining even the fantasy of keeping a sense of humor after all this,

you're a lot closer to enlightenment than I am. I'm afraid to ask why it

couldn't be delivered.Grrrrrrr.

Bonnie,

I'm so sorry to hear that! Must be so frustrating, esp when you've

had to give so many blood samples and put such an effort to get the

package to them - only to be returned! Grrr!!

But your attitude and sense of humour despite the challenges are

amazing, inspirational really. I know I would have gone ballistic

myself - at least at first. Then I'd go blame the pred. Heh. ; )

I'm sure things will work out the next time.
