Guest guest
I am wondering how different these surgeries are? My mom has a friend that had her stomach stapled years ago too and has gained all her weight back plus some. according to my SIL they are different surgeries as to how much your stomach can grow. she may be indenial but I do know she trusts her doctor and he tells her she won't be able to gain it back. Sheila ************ I had my stomach stapled about 10 years ago. Back then, they actually stapled a portion of your stomach, as opposed to bypassing the stomach, like they do now. Although I lost weight quickly, because I only changed my eating habits by being FORCED to (tiny quantities), I found that I was gradually able to eat more and more as time passed (over a few years) and my stomach has stretched to what I believe is its normal size (as is evident by my current weight). I gained back all of the weight PLUS an additional 30 lbs over the years, which I blame on having never changed my thoughts about (and addictions to) food. From my experience, yes, it works, as long as you don't expect it to be a miracle cure. You have to do more than just have the surgery for long-term results. I guess I learned that too late.
