Guest guest
Hi, My husband was diagnosed with PLS in June 2003. His symptoms began last Dec. (as far as we can tell). He fell at that time and we noticed weakness in the left leg that was getting worse. Long story short he saw a neurologist MRI x3 EMG x 1 and the neuromuscular specialist in June for the diagnosis. He has gone from walking by himself till Aug to a cane then walker and now needs a scooter. He has muscle twitching in his upper body, in his upper arms and left forearm and hand. I just came across the ALS site yesterday and today found the PLS site. Has anyone else progressed this rapidly? He has balance problems also, stiffness and aching hips especially at night or if he has done alot of walking? Does the heat (outside) bother anyone? It sure makes my husband very tired. Of course we live in AZ and the heat is here to stay!! We have not really known what to ask the dr. The Dr said give him 6 mo before he would give a prognosis. Stated that it was caught very early. Just seems like it has progressed rapidly especially since Aug. I have also noticed that he does not sit up straight much anymore--and his neck really hurts occasionally. His job is working on computers so this just makes it worse. Have others gone thru these same things? Thanks. Jane in AZ
