Could it be the companies being called are companies taht clearly list, and therefore reading the label IS the best option?

I stay away from companies like that. I prefer to go to companies that work with me like Kraft and General Mills.

The number of different foods that I eat is probably pretty narrow. But I have a comfort level with that. Why beat my head against the wall for those who don't care? I do however, let those "uncooperative companies" know that I will not use their products and make that known on all of the websites I frequent.

Maybe it is just me (or not having the context of the whole conversation) but

I don't find that response rude. It is a CYA which can get exasperating to

deal with over and over but even the GF friendly companies will refer you to

the label first. I like a company that won't try to convince me to use their

product - I find the " don't use " them response refreshing (in a weird sort of

way!?!?). Just another perspective - take it for what it's worth (possibly

nothing). :)

yup, P & G's standard reply is read the label and get your doctor to

write us a letter then we'll investigate the hidden ingredients and

get back to your doctor in 4 weeks.

Guess who doesn't use P & G products any more?

I could never use Cover Girl products.. .would always break out with them. Never could understand it... until this moment. I used them years before I went GF. I do break out when having wheat based products anywhere on my skin. Cover Girl must have had some type of wheat in their make up line. Now I use Ben Nye professional make up, but not around my lips. -- Carol M Heppnerwww.carolheppner.comScrapbooking Techniques: INKING (Sterling/Chapelle) 2006Making Memory Jewelry (Sterling/Chapelle) 2006

I am happy to say that we don't use ANY products from these companies that

were rude to you.

I would like the lists for Walgreens, s, and Newman's Own if you

could send it to me.

I got almost identical response from Knorr and Brach's candy. Colgate

was also suprizingly rude.

On a plus note the following companies were very nice even if

If anyone would like these companies gluten free lists just let me

know.

Have you tried Pantene Pro V Full and Thick? That's what I use and no breakouts... even use their conditioner. Now, I can't speak to other shampoos in their line. Pantene is not like it use to be.... or this one isn't.

I know how you feel since it is a very limited source for hair care. I hope more companies will come to understand that those who have allergies are a larger market than they know. They are missing the chance to add to their bottom line.

I strongly suggest that anyone who gets a unkind email from a company... take that email and write to the Chairman of the board or President of that company. Your letter needs to be professional, but let them know why you find the email offensive. Let them know the market they are missing.

Last Christmas, I had a problem with a cashier and other sales people in a chain store. I knew if I wrote to the manager or district manager of that store, it would go no where. So, I googled the corporate info on the chain and found the Chairman of the Board. I wrote my letter giving him the name of the cashier, logged the whole trip and whom I met and how I was treated... and how I felt when being mistreated. Then told him that I felt the problem was store wide and that talking to the manager would not be productive. I also explained that the employees of that store were loosing him sales.

Within a week, his assistant called to tell me how sorry they were and what action they were taking. I also received a note from the district manager along with a 50.00 gift card. They also realized that I wouldn't go back to the store for a few months, but told me they hoped I would give them another chance. I did.. and there were changes in the store, which was nice.

I've always said... if something is wrong... go right to the top.

I have a lot of problems with skin/scalp break outs too. I think there must be something else in a lot of products or processed on the same lines or something like that because I have tried MANY MANY products with no avail. I finally found something that's okay in that respect, but it makes my hair feel oily all of the time. I just can't seem to win. :( Rhiannon

Now, I'm jealous! I have fine, thin, straight hair! (grin) I've always wanted full, thick hair... sigh...

You know I get that response from a lot of people... and I mean a lot of people.... but I don't that problem. They changed the formula and have a ton of new products. I use to have that problem with the old formula.

I take my own shampoo when I go to get my hair cut... and I get the same reaction from the person who cuts my hair (when she sees the bottle I had her)... but she never sees a build up of product on my hair.

If anyone else knows of other gluten free shampoos... I'd love to hear what you use.

Carol

I have tried Pantene products. I LOATH them because they always leave such a build up in my hair and I have full and thick hair already, so that wouldn't be so good for me. Thank you though for the suggestion. :) Rhiannon-- Carol M Heppnerwww.carolheppner.comScrapbooking Techniques: INKING (Sterling/Chapelle) 2006

I contacted s and didn't find them to be very helpful. Do you have a list of products they consider to be GF?

Thanks.
