Guest guest
Yes, I go through this all the time. I woke up fine this morning then I spent an absolutely miserable day at work today. Tomorrow I may be fine or worse or both depending upon the time of day. Things do seem to get worse for me at night. So no, it's not all in your head, this is just the way the disease is. I went to the Symposium in Indiana and there was a nice long talk about pain managment and how our disease goes like this. The doctor said that the best way is to get a long acting medicine to take over and get preventive about a lot of the pain and then have a break through pain med for those times when it gets worse and you need something NOW. I'm in the process of trying to get into a pain managment clinic that will help with this. Kimber -- Kimber hominid2@... Guest guest
Honey, how much and whether you smoke (and maybe what) definitely could affect your lungs and breathing, and general anesthesia gets really into your lungs and breathing... You essentially turn the breathing over to those taking care of you. How much you drink, (Or I do) can affect our mutual general health and body chemistry and how able the liver and lights are to get rid of the stuff they pump in to knock us out or keep us going during surgery. If you're doing drugs, even if it's sudafed or aspirin, (totally legal, totally honorable, totally wonderful) they can affect the way your body responds. For instance, when I have even the teeniest bits of oral surgery, my docs plead, " Please leave off the low-dose aspirin " that my other docs have said, " Please take it once daily to prevent stroke. " I find most, and certainly the best, docs to be non-judgmental about such things. Just wanting info to know how best to help you. In mine own notions, honesty will serve you best. Guest guest
Hi! I know that some of the medications I am on post-op have warnings right on them about not mixing alcohol with them. I think that's pretty standard for pain medications. I can only assume that our doctors ask about drugs for the same reason - both legal and non, I'm sure - to make certain that they won't interfere or cause adverse reactions along with our prescriptions. As far as smoking goes, my Dotor's advised that I not smoke 24 hours pre-op but didn't say anyting about post-op ... so I'm not sure. Guest guest
Just wondering, I am on Wellbutrin XL as well, pre-op. But... was told after surgery (5/6/04)any WLS patients could no longer take anything that was time released or suspended. I have gone back to the older regular Wellbutrin. Anyone else familiar on this subject? Thanks, Dana > Hi I am 8 days from surgery and my boyfriend and I have been doing > alot of talking about the surgery he is very supportive of it but > is also worried cause i do suffer from depression and sever anxiety > which I take medication for both of them we where both wondering how > you all felt emotionally while you where recovering from surgery > > and how your emotionally doing after being healed from the > surgery?? Guest guest
I was told the same thing about the time released medications. I got a prescription for regular Wellbutrin and they were huge. Plus they only came in 75mg so I had to take two to get the correct dose. I cut them in half and they were horrible. So I took my sample bottle of the Wellbutrin XL and showed them to the surgeon and asked about the time released and he said that it was fine for me to take them. So that is what I am doing. They are small and I only have to take one of them. I'm not sure if your surgeon agrees or not. Hope this helps, Tina > Re: QUESTIONS > > Just wondering, I am on Wellbutrin XL as well, pre-op.
