Guest guest
Barb, Glad to hear the good news but sorry to hear you are having more problems. I will continue to keep you in my prayers. Hugs nne Breast Cancer Patients Soul Mates for Lifehttp://www.geocities.com/chucky5741/breastcancerpatients.html Check out my breast cancer ornaments at:http://www.geocities.com/chucky5741/bcornament.htmlalso check out my other ornaments and lots of nice gifts at:http://www.cancerclub.com more waiting I went to my surgeon yesterday for a follow up on the cath surgery. Everything is fine there and ready to use. He received the results of the PET/CT scan I took on Monday from the onc... over the fax as I was there. The good news... nothing wrong with my liver or any other organ. The bad news... they see a mass (about 2 cm) about 5 cm above where my lumpectomy was done... in the arm pit. That was not there when I discovered the lump in my breast (or rather the mammogram did). Surgeon cannot find the lump, nor did he feel anything when he removed the positive lymph nodes. I can find what I thought was a swollen lymph gland in my arm pit, before the surgery. Surgeon just thinks that is all from the surgery as lymph nodes were removed. He says he cannot feel a lump, does not feel the swollen gland is what they are talkiing about. Surgeon will not just go in blind and remove it. (thank you). So we go Friday for another biopsy to see if they can determine, first, if is malignant, second, if it is a second, primary tumor or cancer cells in a lymph node, and thirdly, where it is so the surgeon can take it out if it is necessary.Surgeon says although it is unusual to have a second, primary tumor, he has seen that happen but it is not very common. The problem being... if it is malignant can the pathologist determine if it is lymph cells or breast cells? Surgeon is hoping they can but does not know. Breast cells will mean more surgery, lymph cells means we are on to chemo. So it is hurry up and wait.... again. I have to look at this in a positive way.... the bone scan must have been clear (no one is jumping up and down about that one and it was done at the same time as the original CT), the organs are clear.... all good things. Now if we can clear up or take out whatever they are talking about, then, hopefully we can go forward with chemo and radiation. Its hard. I just want to get this stuff out of me... NOW!!! I'm getting frustrated. Dh is getting frustrated. Biopsy on Friday, results not till next Monday or Tuesday....Barb

Biopsy on Friday, results not till next Monday or Tuesday....Barb Barb, Big Hugs lady, mom is going thru the same thing. It's hurry up and wait. She was taking test every week for two months before her surgery. Now she is healing and waiting for chemo. When you ask the surgeon,(she hasn't seen a oncologist yet), so what type of chemo or anything other than the mastectomy she says that is the next step don't you be worrying, one step at a time....arghh Hang in there Peg

Guest guest
Thank you all. Just got back from biopsy. Surprise! Not out of the woods yet, but one area they were concerned about was very close to lymph node surgery. They did a core biopsy on that....could be a tumor, could be scar tissue. Surgeon assured me he checked that area out thoroughly. When radiologist put pain med needle in the other one, it drained. Now they send that out to be tested as well, but looks like it was just fluid build up. So I will have a good weekend and hope, and pray, that the tests come back okay on Monday or Tuesday. Until that time, I wait for my daughter and granddaughter to arrive for the weekend (12 hours away by car). AND, I will keep positive thoughts and have a GREAT weekend. We are finally getting some spring like weather here in the north and I think I'll enjoy it. Barb Re: more waiting Its hard. I just want to get this stuff out of me... NOW!!! I'm getting frustrated. Guest guest
Oh, I know what its like to have those flower beds calling. I have not gone out to check on them, but I see the bulb plants out of the ground and the neighbors daffodils in bloom. We just need a few more warm days, without rain, and hopefully I can get out and check them out.
