Guest guest
Hi Friends, One of my recent goals has been to do better w/exercise. Either getting to the pool on my own to do my own dog-paddeling and exercises or taking a water aeorobics or acquasize class (slower paced). I have been to 2 acquasize classes in the past 2 weeks. I had problems following the routines because my achilles is short and my balance sucks. As it is, I'm having trouble walking barefoot and need a shoe with at least 1 inch heel and preferably 1 1/4 inch. Of course 1 1/2 inch starts to get too high for balance.......... Between my short achilles and the bouyancy, I can't get my foot down on the bottom of the pool easily. When I do, it's just the ball of my foot that touches and I usually slip because of course I'm moving my arms in the routines which makes me lose my balance. Some ladies wear sneakers to help with slipping, but I don't have cloth sneakers that I can wear because my feet are so wide that sneakers that fit well are hard to come by. I have leather walking shoes (Propet) that are sort of like sneakers but can't wear those in the water. But I'm thrilled I found those in size 6 1/2 WWW. I was telling myself to just go anyways and do the best I could and just do things differently as needed. But, I found something that helped. I looked in my FootSmart catalog to see if there was something that would fit my wide feet with a heel that I could wear in the water. I found a cloth shoe with a rubber sole that is 1 inch. It's $49.95. I ordered it and they came yesterday. I wore them today to the water aerobics class and it made a huge difference. I still had some trouble but not nearly as much. So I'm very happy about that. The product is Conforinta Women item #70612 from FootSmart, if you want a pair. They come in a few colors. They are European sizes and I ordered a size 38 Beige. I think they might be good for the beach, too. On the rare occasions I go to the beach, I've worn my Propet Walking Shoes/Sneakers because it's so hard to walk in the sand. I guess I'll have to plan another cruise, now, LOL. Anyhoo, just passing the info to those who may want to consider water exercises and have the same problem. best, Kathi
