Imuran (6-mp) / Azathioprine causing anemia?

Does anyone have any information on the possibility of Imuran causing

anemia (drop in red blood count)?

We are getting conflicting information on this. My daughter is anemic,

but hasn't had any bleeding for about 4 months. A vetrenarian we know,

my pharmisist, and a friend of ours who is on imuran all said since it

is a immune suppressent, it does cause anemia.

However, our doctor is saying he does not believe the medicine is

causing it.

Any thoughts on this?
