Hello,

I was wondering if someone could explain the following to me:

Page 53 BTVC - " However people who cannot get their meat smoked

without sugar, ordinary smoked bacon may be eaten once a week if it

is fried very crisply.

Page 57 BTVC - " Diet soft drinks are permitted occasionally. Those

sweetened with aspartamen or Nutri-Sweet may sometimes contain

lactose and should be avoided, however if this is the only type

available, once per week is permitted. "

Can you have bacon because it is cooked cripsly which gets rid of the

sugar?

Diet soft drinks sweetened with aspartame (I'm assuming like Diet

Pepsi or Coke is what this is refers to)

The book says that the diet must be followed with " fanatical

adherance " I guess I don't understand why there are these

concessions, when it says even a taste of ice cream or sugars can

seriously impede recovery.

Yogurt - I bought the yogourmet yogurt starter (has only acidophilus

and bulgaricus) when I discovered what I was using was not legal, is

this brand ok?

Remicade increased - My doc just doubled my dose of remicade and

since I have felt awesome. No d or anything, am also on prednisone

(5mg) supposed to wean off after 2 rounds of remicade. Question

would be if I feel this good, should I still be sticking to a pretty

basic SCD or could I add things like uncooked fruit/veggies etc. I'm

pretty sure I should still stick to the basics for now to heal, but I

am interested in hearing opinions from you guys.

Thanks

Jody B
