Hi Amber,

I don't know anything about the metho needle, but you will be fine I am sure.

Your dh does sound sweet. Though the pain is still there, it makes it a

little easier when your mate can be there physically and emotionally. And it

sounds like you have it both with your dh. I will be thinking of you and

saying a prayer that everything works out ok. Please take care.

Love,

Sheila

Amber,

I had the metho shot twice - it's not so bad, just a shot in the butt

that stings a little as it's injected. Of course I have ample muscle

(and fat) in the area, but I just remember it being a little sore to

sit on the next few days. I hate IM shots too. It's the feeling of

pressure where something is injected that just shouldn't be. I think

a mild sedative would be fine for you. The metho shouldn't be taken

with vitamins or folic acid because it can counteract it's effects,

but I can't imagine a valium would do any harm. I'm sorry you're

going through this, but I'm glad dh is there for you. It's nice to

have someone to lean on who will get you movies and ice cream in the

next few days. Please take care,

Dominique

Amber,

It probably depends on the skill of the person who administrates it, but my

injections were not painful at all. It is a huge syringe though...so don't look

at it and maybe you won't get too freaked out! I hope all goes smoothly for

you.

there to give me my metho injection. My dh is so sweet... he is

taking the whole day off work, and he rented a bunch of movies for us

to watch tomorrow afternoon. I don't think I could have gotten

through this without him!

I am feeling ok now about having the shot. I just hope we aren't too

late, and that the shot works quickly and painlessly!

How bad is the needle???? I am a real suck when it comes to needles,

although the fertility treatments have definitely helped me along in

that area. I used to pass out at the sight of a syringe, but now I

get blood drawn at least 1-2 times per week, so I'm getting used to

it. However, the intramuscular needles still really bother me. Do

you think it would be ok to take a mild tranquilizer before the

shot? Or do you think it might interact with the metho??? I know...

I'm such a baby when it comes to needles!!!!

Thanks for any advice you can offer!!!

Amber

(who knows she will have nightmares about big, scary needles tonight!)

Hi Amber,

I'd recommend not taking a tranquiler before the metho shot. The

shot really doesn't hurt at all--maybe for a split second, but that

is all. I had two injections.

They really limit the types of drugs you take during treatment--so

I'd definitely stay away from a tranquilizer. For example, I don't

think you can even take an aspirin.

Amber, the shot that I got was in the rump, and it

wasn't bad at all. I had two (three) shots. One of

the two didn't go into the rump (it didn't hurt), the

nurse said the needle was dull, but I am sure that it

was just my buns of steel.

-Amber, please understand that I am not trying to make

light of your situation, I just wanted to tell you

that the shot isn't too bad. You might have a sore

spot where the shot was for a day or two. People

respond differently. Please feel free to email me or

the group with any questions you might have about how

you are feeling. My dh looked up methotrexate on the

internet and studied the side effects and all that

stuff, so when I complained about being dizzy and a

little confused, he was able to ease my mind with the

information. I'll be praying for you.

Amber,

I hope things went ok for you today at the hospital and the needle

wasn't as bad as you were imagining it to be. Hopefully with your

low beta levels the metho will do its thing and the physical part of

all this will be over very soon.

Amber,

I am going through the post and I guess you have had injection already (it's

Friday) I just wanted to say I hope all goes ok. I hope the shot works quickly

so you can begin to heal physically at least. You deserve to get off the

rollercoaster you have been on.

Your dh sounds wonderful. That was so nice of him to take the day off and rent

movies. I hope you have as peaceful day as possilbe.
