Hi sharry

Glad you are back home safe and sound........take care and remember

dont overdo it. It takes time and then you will have a lovely new

hip to play with hehee

You said you had a long incision.......mines quite long too perhaps

we should all have a little competition.

look forward to more postings about your recovery. Im nearly nine

weeks post op and feeling great, however the first few days and even

into weeks i felt very depressed, luckily support on here is great

and that definitely helped.

thinking of you

Sharry,

Congratulations and welcome to the club! Every day will be better, and you

won't believe how well you will feel each day. I am 14 weeks post op and biking

and jogging, playing a little soccer, all basically pain free! What a miracle

for all of us surfacehippies.

I have returned....

Hi gang! Got back two days ago from Ghent and am finally up to

posting a short email (it hurts to sit for very long, longgggg

incision ). The operation went well, thougth I have to say the first

two days were HELL. Then I started to see through the pain and was

able to start moving around. I still amazes me how quickly they get

you moving. Dr De Smet is an absolute dear, visited every day,

hospital and Holiday Inn. He was very surprised at how quickly I

recovered and got around with one crutch, and so was his

physiotherapist, Mark, so that made me feel good.

I am extremely glad that my daughter went with me, as I felt quite

isolated with only my English language, and bit of Frenc. Everyone

does NOT speak English, and even with some who did, communication

took awhile. She was able to run interference when I was just too

exhausted or in pain to explain things.

I am getting around the house ptetty well, though tire easily, which

I expected.

That's about all I can manage for the moment. If anyone has

questions, feel free to ask.

Hi Sharry,

Welcome home, congratulations, and I wish you a continued excellent

recovery! I am scheduled with Dr. DeSmet in early December, and have

heard thru our group that he is changing hospitals in October. Did

you hear anything about that while you were over there?

Thanks so much, and again my very best wishes for a rapid recovery!

Welcome back, Sharry.

Hopefully you are through the worst now and it is only uphill.

Listen to your body and take it easy when it tells you to.

Welcome home, Sharry. Hope your recovery is not as Loooooongggg as

your incision! Seriously, isn't it nice to put the date and doctor

name after your signature? That means the worst is over and the best

is yet to come! Keep us posted on your progress.

Thanks , for reminding me that I might feel depressed. It

hasn't happened yet, but I am only 13 days post-op, so recovery looks

fast at thispoint. I can see a time when it will slow down and I'll

get impatient. I am on one crutch, so the short term goal is to get

back to being able to drive and dump this crthc.....
