Guest guest
Overall it was good. I can't say that I really learned alot that I didn't already know, but I think Bob did, so it was well worth it. I really liked the tour part and seeing the different areas of the L & D unit. They have 4 birthing rooms which the instructor said almost everybody gets the opportunity use...if they are all full, you have to go into just a plain old stark delivery room. I'm already hoping that it isn't WAY busy when I go into labor and I'll get to use one of the really nice birthing rooms. They are just decorated so nice and have a much warmer feeling to them. Of course, as I predicted, I had a bright red embarrassed face a couple times during class...Bob didn't even wait 5 minutes into the class to start. We were doing introductions, who we are, what we were hoping to learn, etc... We were like the 5th or 6th couple to talk and all the women had been speaking, so I spoke for us too. Then it moved on the next couple and his hand SHOOTS up in the air (...interrupting the other woman-that was what embarrassed me most!!). The instructor calls on him, and he has to " wonder why none of the men are saying anything " ...so she asks him if there was something he would like to add. He said something goofy, but then went on to be more serious and say what his goals and hopes for the class were and then ended with asking if they were going to teach the fathers ways to keep them from passing out! It was actually pretty funny the way he worded it all and from then on both the man (or coach) and the woman from each couple said something as we went around the room...and almost every man agreed that their main goal was to not pass out during delivery. LOL The instructor got such a kick of it! Later the instructor passed out to the men things you may want to pack in a labor bag and they had to say what it might be used for. Bob made his explanation into a mini-commercial!! It was really funny..everyone was in stitches, but still a little embarrassing...but I am quite used to this by now! But the *really* funny part of this was one of the guys had suckers as his item and he couldn't figure out what they were for so he said the only the he could come up with was to use them to keep her quiet!!! It was funny for the rest of us, but if I had been her, I might've been just a tad p***ed off!! Anyway I've babbled enough for now. We go back in 2 weeks for more fun and adventures!! -AmyR 29wks
