Do you get the blood tests at the doctors every two weeks or however

often? I thought they monitored you on Imuran--maybe for white blood

cells though.

I only took it a month or so before losing insurance so I don't know.

There is a support group for Crohn's if you want to email me off-list

and maybe someone there would know.

I've never heard of it causing anemia, I was more concerned with the liver damage it can cause and the cancer it can cause even after stopping it. I took it for a brief time and I didn't notice any difference in my anemia. SCD has cured the anemia though.

Does anyone have any information on the possibility of Imuran causing anemia (drop in red blood count)? We are getting conflicting information on this. My daughter is anemic, but hasn't had any bleeding for about 4 months. A vetrenarian we know, my pharmisist, and a friend of ours who is on imuran all said since it is a immune suppressent, it does cause anemia. However, our doctor is saying he does not believe the medicine is causing it. Any thoughts on this?Kathy
