Guest guest
Well my name is Ingrid and I am from sunny California. I am 37 years old and I have two girls ages 4 and 8. I work as a secretary in a hospital which is where I was diagnosed and treated for breast cancer. So getting to my treatments was easy. My husband is 36 years old and works as an electronics engineer. We are a Christian family and enjoy family time together. My hobbies include scrapbooking, crocheting, taking pictures, and latin dancing. All my family and friends would tell you that I loooove to dance. I even danced while on chemo if you can believe that! Now some back ground on my breast cancer. Last year in April I found a lump in my left breast while taking a shower. I thought it was nothing since there is no history of cancer in my family. I let it go for a month. Then one day while sitting at my desk I had this nagging feeling that I should have it checked so I called my GYN doctor and got in to see her the next day. I didn't even tell her where the lump was, she found it on her own. She referred me to get my first mammogram the very next day which was a Friday. The following Tuesday I got the call at work. THings happened fast after that. I met with my oncologist, had test after test done to see if it had spread. I prayed and prayed that it hadn't. God must have heard me because all my tests came back clean. I had an approximately 2cm mass on my left breast. The exact term in my report says Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. When I went to pick up my films and read the report for the first time, I freaked out at the word " invasive " . I thought this monstor was invading my body and it was too late. After meeting with my doctors I learned it was indeed an aggressive tumor but that it had not spread to my lymph notes. My journey was beginning and to say that I was scared is an understatement. For me having radiation and a lumpectomy was a breeze. Chemo was tough but definitely do-able. It tested my sanity and brought me to tears many times when I thought I had had enough. But I stood strong and kept working throughout my treatments and never went on disability. Today I am cancer free. After the very first chemo treatment my docs could no longer feel the lump. Midway through the treatment I had another mammogram and my doctor said I had a " Phenomenal " response. Well I could go on and on but I don't want this to turn into a book so I'll end it here. I just want women to know that there is hope and to always remember the importance of self-examination. I never practiced self examination but that day out of the blue decided to do a quick check. I thank God everyday for healing me and for showing how much He loves me by guiding my hand to that very spot. Hugs, Ingrid -- In breastcancer2 , " nana112956 " wrote: > > Thats so cool. Guest guest
>Hi! My name is Carol and I am from s Ferry Ohio. I have been married to the same guy for almost 29 years, and we have three great kids, 2 girls and 1 boy. Lynnetta is 27, Angie, 25 and Zach 20. Currently, we also have a foreign exchange student, , living with us from Colombia. I believe things happen for a reason and came to live with us 1 month before I was diagnosed with BC. All of my natural children are grown and moved out of the house so I think God brought to us to fill that " void " . undersands my condition and I truly believe it has helped me through this because I didn't want to alarm him when I found out about the BC. I probably put up a front, as I was scared to death, but I also think it helped me. I found my lump myself, luckily it was only 1.1 cm. The biopsy supposedly removed all of the cancer as the margins were clear and the 7 lymph nodes they removed were absent of cancer as well....whew! I am having chemo, however, as the type of tumor was fast growing, ER and PR neg, and HER2 neg. My regimine is called FEC (5FU, epirubicin, and cytoxin) I just had my 4th treatment out of 6 total yesterday. My worst side effects are tiredness, and occasional mouth sore. Oh and of course hair loss. I began losing my hair 12 days after my first treatment. Funny thing, it still hasn't all fallen out, but I am pretty bald nonetheless! I also get a Neulasta shot the day after my treatment and the side effects from it have been worse than the chemo effects. As for work, I work at a private college bookstore as the assistant manager, so fortunately I mostly have a desk job so this allows me to work throughout my treatments except for a few days when I couldn't even drive (due to pain from the Neulasta shot).I signed on to the Frappers map and sadly see no one lives very close to me, 'cause I'd love to meet up with a few of you! Feel free to email me personally also, and thanks for reading my bio! Carol from MF Ohio > Thats so cool. Guest guest
Hi, my name is Barb. I've been married to my husband, Tom for almost 34 years. We have 2 kids, boy, 30 this month and a girl, 34 this October, 2 grandkids, 6 & 1.5, boy & girl.... & my kitty, Gizmo. I own a home-based business, graphic design... for 15 years. Tom & I enjoy traveling in our RV, just got a newer one last summer and are anxious to get it on the road. Looks like it will be local trips this summer, if I'm up to it. Other than that, I like to read and take care of my 6 year old grandson. Both my son and grandson live with us. He has some special needs so I spend a lot of time running him to therapy, doctor appointments, and school activities. B/C came as a complete surprise like it probably did for all of you. I'm glad I found this group. It has really helped me keep informed, here how everyone else is doing and look forward to the day I can say I'm a survivor. Now I just need to get this show on the road and treatment started. Barb lets get to know every one Thats so cool. Now we know where every one is frm.Now lets try getting to know people. Guest guest
I'm Lee Anne. I am single. I was married and divorced 3 times. Possible marriage #4 ended when 2 weeks after we were engaged, I met his girlfriend. Needless to say, I kept the ring which was custom made just for me. I have 2 sons, 27 and 20. My oldest, is married to and they have three beautiful children. Cody, 8, Sierra, 6, and Hunter is 2 months. My youngest son is Tony and is going to be a daddy any minute now. He's living with a gal named Windy and basically that's all I know about her. I've met her twice in 2 years. My hobbies are crocheting, knitting, and reading. I'm also a Red Hatter which adds a bit of " glamour " to the chemo situation. I wear a rhinestone studded baseball cap to my treatments. I meant to wear long rhinestone earrings yesterday but forgot them. I have my wonderful dog Banjo, a 2 year old cockapoo, who has helped me thru the surgery and my down times. He is so loving and gentle with me, besides being very soft. I collect turtles and have three live aquatics that I enjoy watching. Guest guest
Lee Anne, How did your treatment go yesterday? As I remember, it was your first. Hope you are feeling okay. Love those critters. Although we only have cats, its amazing to me how understanding and perceptive they can be. Just when you are at your lowest, here comes this little face... Don't know what I'd do without my Gizmo. Guest guest
nne, I am so lucky that I have only one bad day with chemo. I worked those pressure points last night and it works wonders. So today I am pain free. Not doing any lifting either. I did find out yesterday that my onc. did not want me taking any more Tylenol because of the numbers on my liver, and that's two weeks after I had the cat scan. Nothing showed up on the catscan. No lumps in the abdomen area and chest area, Whoopee!!! But no one told me not to take Tylenol and I had taken some the night before. I am so sick of all this hair coming out in my food, my pillow, etc. I chose a wig at the Cancer Center here and will take it with me on Monday when I get the Mohawk. Take Picture and quickly shave it all off. I forgot to mention that I found out last Thanksgiving eve that I had cancer and scheduled surgery ASAP, Dec. 20th. The lumpectomy went fine although it is invasive ductal carcinoma. So I am cancer free as far as I know. Janet > > Janet, > Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. Guest guest
Janet, I don't seem to be getting all of the posts. If you haven't already shared about the pressure points would you please explain it a little more? It might help some of the other ladies. Can't wait to see your pictures. Continued prayers.
