Guest guest
Each state is different on this. Here in Colorado, if you are self- employed you are considered a group of 1. You have to be treated the same as groups. If you were getting an individual policy though (like if you didn't get insurance thru your employer) they can pretty much use any excuse to deny insurance. I have heard of people who have had difficulty getting insurance because of Celiac. This can be quite expensive. But if you are covered by a group policy there is no problem. Group plans cover many things that individual plans would reject........ >

Guest guest
It doesn't work that way here. I had my own insurance for awhile before we were married and I had a lot of riders on my policy. You will also have problems getting insurance if you ever have lapse in coverage. If you apply for an individual policy, insurance companies can deny you. I know it works that same in WI too. That is why I said that I was lucky that my husband's company carries our insurance. Otherwise I would have a tough time. He knows that no matter where we live and where he works that he will have to have the insurance because of me being self-employed. So, I thank my lucky stars all of the time that we have that luxury of getting insurance through my husband's company with all of the visits to the doctor I have. Guest guest
They can't take it away. It's just if you are applying for a new policy that it could become a problem.
