An alternative to the microwave (or skillet cooking, which leaves more fat

than we want) is to bake the bacon strips on a broiler pan (that lets the

grease drop down below the food).

We also have a plastic microwave cooking pan with ridges that allows the

bacon grease to accumulate below the bacon; it does help, though, to use a

paper towel on top of the bacon.
