a,

I never did find out what my spots are. I still have them but they aren't really bothersome. When I went to the doc. the nurse practitioner nor the doc knew what they could be. I have been trying to get a hold of my immunologist for weeks now to get his take and still haven't gotten a return call. I don't that much about Shingles other than that it is very painful and the pain can last long beyond the break out of patches and spots. Did you get a script for some pain meds? I know when my grandma had them she found relief in using a heating pad. I hope you feel better soon. If I ever do find out what my spots are I will be sure and let you know.

My father has had shingles. His were very painful and he used a TENS unit

for pain. His went all around his rib cage from side to his back and to his

other side. He was told that they could come back at any time as the virus

is present in the body. He has been lucky and this has not happened. Since

it is a virus, I would think that it would add to any crash you are having.

I hope you get to feeling better.

Poor a!

My Dad just came down with the shingles a month ago. They gave him pain meds and he took a round of Zovirex? (same stuff people with herpes take). He was told it could be three weeks to three months before they're gone. Some people can get through it with minimum discomfort others aren't so lucky. I will pray you're one of the lucky ones!

Shingles

Hi all, , I was wondering if you ever found out what the spotsyou were breaking out in were. This was a couple of weeks ago. The mainreason I was wondering was that I went into the doctor today for abladder infection and decided to have him look at two spots on my torso. They have been itching and have started to hurt. The nurse thought theywere bug bites. The doctor took one look at them, grabbed his gloves andexamined them more closely. He thinks it is shingles. I realized thatyes, I do have some pain in my ribs, but didn't distinguish it from myother "normal" pain. Does anyone know much about shingles? He said I am notcontagious as they are dry and that I can work. Can this be one reason, besides a crash, that I have been so tired out lately? Thanks and smiles,aMedical advice, information, opinions, data and statements contained herein are not necessarily those of the list moderators. Carol, and Laurie,

Thanks for the replies. Carol, my doctor said something about Zovirex, but I think he is waiting for the culture to come back, which will be a week. He doesn't want to give me any more medications than he has to. He is hoping the antibiotic I am on right now might help. I am not sure it is shingles, but I do notice increased pain in the ribs, but I thought it was from my crash. Who knows? If it is shingles, I think it is a very mild case.

Smiles,
