Happy 39th

birthday

Today is my birthday. We are going out to a place called The Bahooka in

Rosemead, CA. It is quite famous and has been in several movies. Part of

the fame is due to the 43 year old fish, named Rufus, who eats carrots. I

don't think anything they serve is diabetic friendly, but I am going to

enjoy every bite!

P.S. they also have those drinks made with rum and fruit juice which serve

more than one person at a time, with 3 foot long straws.

Well, we've got several ladies with birthdays! Let's see... I'd guess 29, and

not 39, like some other member suggested! How rude!

I am sorry to hear about your school friend. I never have excessive amounts

of alcohol. I could probably count what I have had on one hand since

finding out I am diabetic. I did have 2 cups of hot chocolate with Kahlua

when my daughter took me and a girl friend out to lunch.

I have taken a couple sips of 's milk shakes when I put Schnapps in it

for flavorintg. And I think Debbie made me a mild wine drink when the kids

were grilling for Labor Day. I think that is about it.

I have stopped drinking regular pop and stay with the Crystal Light or

Kroger drink mixes and occasional diet pop. I have a cookie here and there

and maybe a Hershey's kiss or Andes mint. But none of this is all together

on the same day.

I just lost a friend, kind of someone I was acquainted with and we talked

once in a while. She was only 42 and was liveley and vibrant at 3:30 in the

afternoon on the Saturday before Halloween and around six that evening she

was found dead on her bed from an epileptic seizure. She was not diabetic

that i know of and I did not even know she had seizures. It was hard for me

to hndle even though I did not know her well because she was soyoung and so

creative with music and parodies. We truly never know. So I am trying to

be sensible but I still do want to enjoy the best of what life has to offer

and I think portion control and moderation is a big part of it.
