Guest guest
Don't be humiliated Kim, if it wasn't your DS, it would have been someone else's. It's very difficult for them to sit still. Last year DH and I attended the nativity and I spent the entire time in a nearby classroom with DS2 (who must have been a near 4 year old then). This year my DS1 was ill so attended DS2's nativity, he should really know better but I had to take him out to the loo and " encourage " him to sit up etc etc. It's very difficult with childcare. My DS1's school this year requested no toddlers at their harvest festival service because of potential distractions. I was lucky enough to be able to leave DS3 with MIL, but would have been disappointed not to be able to attend otherwise. On a different note, both DS1 and DS2 schools have done a professional video of the nativity which you can purchase for about £6. Parents were then requested not to do their own videos during the performance. Last year DS2 was a king in the playgroup nativity and he must have felt like real royalty - the effect of 30 parents's photography was like the paparazzi! Guest guest
Oh Kim, what a horrid time you had. I'm sure all the others were just thinking " Phew! That could have been me. " Kieran when at nursery completely freaked in the nativity play cos the speakers emitted a loud whine right next to him. I was convinced this time for his first school play that there would be trouble after all the fun and games we've had this term at school but....he sang and behaved like an angel and I sobbed and sobbed with pride and relief. There will be many, many more plays to come and I hope you get to see it on video. FWIW, I took Carys (2) to the school Christmas service in church today. She was fine(ish) all the way through to when it went all quiet for the prayers and just in that moment of absolute silence....she said in a VERY loud voice " Mummy, I need a weeeeeee! " Giggles erupted everywhere and a very red faced me had to fight my way out of the pew and through to the loo at the back of the church. They'll always let us down/show us up at some time or another! .
Guest guest
But that's what's fun about children, isn't it? We used to attend a church where the minister and his family were (and still are) very good friends of ours. DD1 regularly used to pipe up with comments such as 'Oh look, Bruce is climbing some stairs' or 'Bruce has got a blue shirt on today' or 'Why is Bruce talking so much?' I really don't think people mind this sort of thing and if they do, well, they're miserable so and so's. JMHO!!! Lesley -------------------- said.... Guest guest
DS3 had his Christmas party at playgroup today. He seemed very excited when he found the bag containing presents for the helpers and chocolate crispy cakes for the children. I began to realise things were not going quite as planned when he started shouting " no, no " when we parked the car outside playgroup. Then he didn't want me to go " I want to play with my mummy " . When I arrived to pick him up at 12.00 I was called inside - always ominous - and one of the staff explained she'd had to give him time out because he had *bitten* another child's tummy. He was obviously full of the Christmas spirit :-((( Jo Trainee ANT & Bookings Sec, Southend SAHM to (7), (4) and Dominic (2)
