Guest guest
ohhh, m sorry sumi, thought i did send you the URL for my website. There is really nothin interesting written about Grave's Disease on my website, just pictures to compare my tremendous weight gain after RAI and my nursing graduation last Aug 8 2002. Okey, m not really that good in expressing my thoughts(english is my second language) so i thought pictures would do it. W/ Jody's/the group's support and encouragement, i DID IT, I PASSED NURSING!!!.. My life has been miserable since RAI. As a student nurse, thought good doctors knew what they were doin when treating their patients..thought they knew what's best for their patients for them to get well but now I learned my lesson, we shouldn't trust anyone, when it comes to taking care of our OWN HEALTH, not the doctor or even us nurses...(nurses sometimes are overworked treating a lot of patients, they are likely to make mistakes) I guess my former endo(he's fired) was getting something from the drug companies, I maybe wrong but after my RAI, he was giving me different samples of synthetic thyroid meds, FREE supplies for MONTHS! WE SHOULD ALL BE IN CHARGED OF OUR HEALTH. i TRUSTED my endo and EVEN MY cousin doctor. THEY said RAI was the only option i got to treat my GD since i refused SURGERY....and hypo is very easy to manage than hyper, Now I know that this is not TRUE!(jody is right!)..It was too late for me because I didn't find this support group before having the RAI....After reading all jody's/elaine's/GROUPS' EMAILS and oh yes, yours/paM's/group's websites, I realized and learning that there are other alternative treatments for GD. I had very mild symptoms when I was hyper, no fatigue, no muscle aches, no brain fog, I WAS on top of the world because I could EAT ANYTHIng I wanted and NO WEIGHT GAIN,(weighed 114 lbs) but my eyes were buggiN me, It was so dry and right eye started to bulge, (that's when I got worried.) My cousin doctor told me that If I don't go for RAI, I would get blind and would die of heart failure d/t palpitations(my resting pulse rate was 100-120). My grandmother also had GD, found this out from my dad after my RAI treatment. My dad/grandma never heard of GD during their times, my father just knew that grandma's eyes starting to bulge(exophthalmos) It happened when she was 39yo & never got treatment, I remember @ age 68, she looked very young for her age, no gray hair(she never used hair dyes) & no weight problem. Her only problems then were watery eyes and ptosis(drooping of eyelid). Her death was unexpected @ age 68, she died of heart attack. well for me, i rather die fast and quick like that of my grandma's than reach 90 y0 n suffer from no energy, pain d/t terrible muscle aches(hypo symptoms), obesity and other illnesses & bedridden. BTW: for dry/watery eyes, my ophthalmologist put PUNCTAL plugs on both my eyes' tear ducts. It's a simple painless procedure & I never have problem w/ dry/watery eyes since then, even after RAI treatment. it's almost 5am, i think it's about time 4 me 2 go. Let me know sumi if you have put more additional pics/stories on your website, it's COOL! take care all chie ~~i really have no good advice/info to share to everyone, only my experience w/ GD, expressed on my own simple words~~. __________________________________________________
