I have BC/Bs of MI and my doctors (Dr. Mustafa Hares) assistant assures me that they will approve my surgery. Dr. Hares does the DS. What I want to know is what good is the approval from the insurance if all the hospitals in MI are closing all the WLS down? DID YOU SIGN THE PETITION?

Why are they stopping the surgery? Was there problems or complications related

to the surgery? I would really appreciate it if you could respond and let us

know why they are doing this. THanks Diane

I don't think I'm qualified to give you all the answers that you may want. The best ones to answer your questions about why the MI hospitals are booting WLS out would probably be , who authored the Petition, or Jackie Smiertka, who is Dr. Hares' assistant. Following are their email addresses:

The reasons the hospitals in MI are closing doors to WLS DOES NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE SURGERY ITSELF OR THE WAY IT IS PERFORMED. I believe it is an administrative thing.

If you want to see who signed the petition without wasting bandwidth,

check out the site where it says " view signatures. " Last time I was

there, it was up to 23.

Uh oh... I hope I didn't sound snotty in that last post about the

petition site and wasting bandwidth! Honest, I didn't mean to sound

that way. I was just envisioning all these responses with " I signed. "

and that's all hehehe. There's probably nothing wrong with that,

either. So just never mind me! :-)

Kathy, about the petition: How is it we who are out of the state are

able to help? One doesn't have to be in MI to be considered a valid

constituant?
