Guest guest
Hello April, Sorry to hear about your husband's UTI. I have had so many UTIs and my urologist has recommended the following... 1. Cranberry Juice/Pills which acidify the urine making it undesirable for bacteria 2. Plenty of fluid to assist voiding the bacteria 3. Avoiding caffeine, hopefully tp prevent less trips to the bathroom For myself, I have found all of these to be helpful and only found full releif with the help of antibiotics. I hope this has helped. Guest guest
Hi April, How great to hear from you. I think we only have one April in Sunnyvale. I'm sorry to hear your husband has suffered through a UTI. Urinary Track infections are relatively rare in males. They are much more common in females. I'm sorry your heart was broken to not be able to take care of him. I can hear the love in your heart through your email. Your husband is blessed. Cranberry juice is recommended for people who tend to get UTIs. My Nephrologitst told me I could drink it. If he is getting frequent UTIs though, you may need to check with his doctor to get the reason why this is happening. Have a safe upcoming trip April. Guest guest
Men are more prone to prostatitis (infection of the prostate). I had it a couple of times before I started dialysis. Any relation to chronic renal failure? I don't know. Realistically, these kinds of infections aren't that uncommon in the general population either. Cranberry? I can't really say with any conviction that it will help, but I do know it can't hurt. For one thing, cranberry is probably the single best juice for kidney patients who have a potassium restriction, since it's very low in potassium. Cranberry cocktail is the juice of choice at most dialysis centres, for example, and also on the pre-dialysis renal diet. Pierre
Guest guest
I have been told that Cran Juice is the most helpful when it is 100% juice, no sugar. But, the most important thing is tons of water and antibiotics. healthyyyalways wrote: Hi, My husband just had an UTI with high fever a couple of weeks ago while I was abroad. Will drink cranberry juice good for him? What other thing he needs to be aware of to avoid UTI? I need to be out again soon. I feel very scared. I'm a worry type person. I just want him to be healthy. Wish everyone healthy, have a nice weekend. And thank you in advance for your suggestions.
