Good for you! I too, used to be a motorcycle guy. Mostly drove Gold

Wings, etc. Always wanted a Harley, but those days are long gone now

that I have PLS. It amazes me that you still have the balance and leg

strength to handle a bike. Sure wish I could still ride. Now I have

the ability to buy a Harley and can't do it due to PLS. I guess I could

buy a three wheeler. No, not a good idea, have difficulty with a three

wheel walker. Anyway, good for you, stay with it as long as possible.

Re: Disabled Parking

I have disabled tags on my Harley. Most folks give me a positive

" thumbs-up " when they see my ride and the tag. The only bad experience I

had

was when a rent-a-cop saw my bike in a handicap spot from a distance.

While

he was walking towards me, he made several loud, smart-ass comments to

people in the area on how he was going to write a book of tickets on me.

When he finally got close enough to see my handicap tag, instead of

apologizing, he demanded (again loud) my license and registration. Now

at

this point I should have complied and politely showed my papers. I

didn't.

I dug my heels in a tried my best to talk my way into jail. Luckily, I

had a

moment of clarity and realized where this conversation was headed and

shut

up.

I guess I'm like most of you and would trade my handicap tag for good

health in a New York minute. But, since I'm stuck with PLS, I'll use the

handicap tag. I really appreciate all the people that wave, smile and

give

me a thumbs-up on the highways, and reserve the right to detonate

whenever I

hear a snide comment.

I had to go to 3 wheels in 98. I traded my Heritage Softail in for an

Ultra-Glide with a sidecar. Best move I ever made! Now I am able to ride

without worrying about my legs giving out at every stop. I made a holster

for my cane on the left saddlebag and this year, I installed one of HD's new

hydraulic clutch rigs. Nice!

If you decide to give riding a shot, let me know. I'll hook you up with

our chapter of the OCB Motorcycle Club (Old Crippled Bikers).

I with you GEO, I like anything that has a loud engine, big wheels and

chrome! I'm making plans right now for Daytona Bike Week in early March.
