Hi All,

I have another question regarding candida. Most anti-candida

programs say not to eat fruit or any sweetner like honey the first month. And

also to avoid starchy veggies like squash and carrots and fruit juices. But all

those are allowed on SCD. Won’t those high sugar foods feed candida?

In my experience with candida, the short answer to your question is

Yes, some of the permitted foods on SCD are also candida trigger

foods.

Which means that if you're dealing with a candida overgrowth, then

you may need to limit or avoid some of these trigger foods until you

have your candida levels back under control. Which foods need to be

avoided, and which ones just need to be limited, varies with each

individual. A lot depends on your candida symptoms. So some trial and

error is involved.

Elaine felt that SCD was close to a candida elimination diet, so that

over time our bodies would reestablish normal candida levels. I was

in such discomfort from my candida symptoms that I couldn't stand to

wait, so I adjusted my food choices to eliminate candida more

quickly. Still took me 2 years, and I still have to remain vigilant

because I have poor digestion and poor digestive motility. But I got

there in the end.
