Guest guest
Maggie, I had a similar experience today. I know how you feel I could have spit bullets at these two people. We were at Walmart and this two men one young one middle age waxing their convertible car in the handicap space! Both were kneeling and putting on the wax. I saw NO sign of being disabled. Another couple, an older lady and man (the man looked like he was the one that was disabled was sitting propped up in the back seat while his wife went in to shop. I know some peoples disability doesn't show like heart problems but these two cases were wrong.........I believe the law states if the person that is disabled does not go in but sits in the car then they should use the space...........I was mad all afternoon........still am!!........I'm venting............Flora
Guest guest
I know how upsetting it is to see people take the last handicap space when it appears they don't need it or have a handicap placard. But sometimes, they do have a placard and just forget to put it up, or as what happens to me, it falls down. My husband has a new car (no, I don't want to volunteer the make and model) and the rear view mirror has a really fat stem that won't hold my handicap placard. So I stick it in the sun visor, but sometimes it falls down. Someone had a really good idea to put cord around the rear view mirror so we could hang it on that, but so far I haven't gotten around to doing it. Anyway, I'm pretty certain that folks get angry when they see our car in the handicap spot and can't see a placard. I want to get a handicap plate, but in California you can only have one or the other, and I often take my own car or ride in my son's car, so need the placard. I agree, the man that had the children did not need to use the space and he should have been ticketed. If I'm feeling extra good, or sometimes when I have my power chair we don't use the handicap spot if there looks to be a shortage of them. Especially if there are regular spots nearby. But just because a car is new or expensive, it doesn't mean the person doesn't need the handicap space. I don't understand why people get so upset with folks that seem to have more than they do. I've known a lot of people in my day, and so far I haven't found any correlation between their wealth, or lack thereof, and their character. Guest guest
--Maggie,I agree with you completly. I just found out that if you are mentaly handicapped you can have a sticker, if that was the case with him he still shouldn't have been rude about it. Guest guest
--Flora, I believe here in Washington state you don't have to go into the store with the driver.
