Congrats on your remission! A colonoscopy and a gastroscope should be enough to show that the tissue is either completely healed or regenerated to show no signs of previous Crohn's. There are some really interesting videos on YouTube of colonoscopy before and after videos that are amazing. In some cases there is no sign of ever having had a disease. Let us know how it goes.

I've been on the SCD for 4 years and in remission for 1+ years.I have an appointment with a new GI this month and I'm hoping to havetests done that will come back as "no Crohn's". I know the diet works, but I'm hoping to gain definitive, objective medical proof. For whatit's worth, I had a small bowel follow through and a colonoscopy inthe year before I began the SCD.My question to this group is what tests should I get to gain thatobjective proof? Thanks, StockereatingSCD.wordpress .com

I was on the SCD for about 2 years and then had a colonoscopy

done. I was feeling great (at that time). My colonoscopy came back clear, but

all my GI would say is that I was in remission. I’ve found that the medical

community has a really hard time accepting that you (we) can do anything

ourselves to make ourselves feel better that doesn’t include medicine.

and Sylvia,

It would be interesting to see the results if you went to a different doctor who didn't know your history and see if he saw signs of remission, or of just a healthy colon.

Hi ,

At my last visit, I talked to my doctor about the colonoscopy results in case of complete resolution of disease as I had the same question. And this is what I learned ( it makes sense in my opinion): based on the location of your disease ( like in my case ileus), it could be hard to get "objective confirmation" due to stenosis of part of small intestine (in some cases) as it is difficult for physician to get the scope through the narrow part of the intestine and see what is going on. Therefore, if in your case you don't have severe stenosis, it could be possible to go though the intestine and take a biopsy in target locations to confirm that you are healthy. Please keep us informed!!!

in addition to colonoscopy being clear you should have

normal CRP and sedimentation levels in your blood work.

In addition to a colonoscopy, I had a blood test done. (I think it was the

Prometheus one,

but not sure.) If you have the blood test, make sure your insurance company is

prepared

to cover it, as we had to argue with mine repeatedly.
