I'm not sure what to tell you, maybe some of the other girls can be of more

help. I just wanted to write and give you encouragement. I'm sorry you have

been in so much pain, I hope it goes away soon!

Well, the past few days have been horrible.

I've had back pain by my left kidney and pain where my left tube is and a

little pain where my right tube used to be.

Last night it was horrible. I was in soo much pain and couldn't even get

comfortable to sleep. Finally at 1:30 am I took a Bendadryl to get some

sleep. I woke up this morning in even more pain.... All last night I kept

thinking that I was pg and it was in my only tube, so i did a hpt this

morning and it was -

I went to the gyn thinking it might be a bladder/kidney infection. The

urine dip was - but they are sending it out for a culture. I told the dr

that pain was twice as bad as my ep and m/c put together. I feel like my

insides are falling apart....

They did a u/s and I have a cyst on my left ovary,, and a huge cyst on my

right ovary and fluid everywhere else... hence the pain...

I was there for over 21/2 hours. They want me to go on b/c pills for 6

weeks straight with no break. They feel if the cysts get too big I could

lose an ovary. I could also just wait it out and see if they go away on

their own. i had pain last month but it's gotten soo much worse this

month.

I am afraid to wait it out.

They told me back in Jan when I was pg that I had a cyst on my right ovary

and now i think it's the same one, so i feel like I have no choice but to

go

on the b/c pills.

They're a really high dose and I know they are going to make me sick...

I was wondering if there was any correlation between b/c pill and ep????

What should I do???

I am sooo sorry this is soo long.

Thanks for listening to me.

I know this pain. Its horrible when they rupture!! I'm so sorry.

> I was wondering if there was any correlation between b/c pill and

ep????

No, I don't think so. If there is, it is anecdotal. There is a

correlation between progesterone-only birth control (mini-pill,

Depo), but typically only when they fail anyway. What I am saying is

that as far as I have checked, women who come off the pill have no

higher rate of ep than those who weren't on it.

> What should I do???

Take the pill! Save your ovary! You'll need it. Thats what I would

do, but I know you need to do whats right for yourself here. I guess

if you really don't want to take the pill that they can surgically

remove them, but then you'll be out of the ttc game for a while

anyway. I don't think you want another rupture. Ruptures can

sometimes cause adhesions. When I get cysts sometimes they go away

on their own, but I've done this bcp thing for cysts twice in the

past. Worked like a charm both times. One cyst was over 8 cm and it

was gone in a week. They did make me nauseated, but they can give

you something for that.

I'm sorry things are getting even *more* complicated for you. At

least this is something they know how to fix. You'll be good as new

in no time.

Hi ,

I didn't get your post earlier about your dr appt today. I had to take b/c

pills last year for functional cysts. If you have an option to take them

please think about it. They do work great. I had a functional cyst on my

left ovary that u/s showed dissolved on its own, but showed one on the right

ovary when I went to see if the cyst had disappeared on the left . So my RE

put me on b/c for a month and it worked. They did make me sick and I had

break through bleeding, but it was worth it because it took care of the cyst.

When I took the pill and was suffering with nausea my niece Leah told me

that I should take the pill a 1/2 hr before bed which I did and that

basically helps you to sleep off the nausea which it did. So you might want

to try that. And even though your taking the pill at night you are still

getting the same benefit as if you were taking it earlier. Minus the nausea

which is a bitch in plain english. So think it over. Talk to you later.

Please take care.

Love,

Sheila

I am SO, SO sorry to hear about the cysts. :o( I have PCOS, so I

can definitely relate!

There is a correlation between ep and bc pills, but only if you

conceive while on the pill, and it is one of the progesterone-only

pills. The progesterone slows down the movement of the cilia in the

tubes, which causes the fertilized egg to mover more slowly, getting

too big to make it out of the tube. Apparently, you have a 5 times

greater chance of having an ep if you conceive while on a

progesterone-only bc pill. Can you tell I've been researching

this??? :o)

I am concerned that my progesterone suppositories are what caused my

ep. I was put on them the day after my IUI, and if it slows down the

movement in the tubes when it's part of a bc pill, then I'm sure that

the huge dosage I was taking (400mg-600mg per day) must have some

effect.... I couldn't find anything mentioning specifically the

progesterone support, but it makes sense to me...

I'm so sorry you're going through all this. I've had ovarian cysts and

was put on bc in high school after one ruptured. I thought I was going

to die the pain was so bad. They did a laparoscopy and found all

this fluid in my pelvis. So I can imagine how much you must hurt

right now. I must say the bc worked for me and I think it's a good

idea to go on it until the cysts go away. You don't want to lose an

ovary and you deserve to live without pain. Whatever you decide

though, we're here to support you. Let us know what you decide.

Thank you for the support for tomorrow. I'll post as soon as I know

anything.

Oh you poor thing! I am so sorry you are going through this mess. Well, I

know you've heard my little spiel on bc pill and my belief that they can be

related with ep. So given that I've clearly stated in the past that I don't

like bc pills at all, this is going to sound a little strange. If the dr

can give you no other option for reducing the cysts, I would take the pills.

BUT, I would first talk to him and make sure that is your only option.

Sometimes the good outweighs the bad...for me I would rather take the pill

for a bit rather than risk losing an ovary. And the bad effects of the pill

seem to go away after your body has a little time off of them. Which I know

doesn't bode well for ttc soon, but it's better to postpone it a bit longer

then lose another part of your reproductive system, right? In the end it is

up to you what you decide, but these are my rambling thoughts of how I was

trying to think through this.

Hey honey, I am sorry you have been in so much pain. I wish there was something

I could do for you. I don't know about the b/c and ep. I wish I had some

answers for you. If you need anything, you know all you have to do is ask.

Please feel better and I will say an extra prayer for you.

!! I'm REALLY sorry this has happened! Did the doctor say

how big the cysts are? I found out in the ER last weekedn that I

have cysts on my right ovary, but the tech only mentioned the size

of one, which was 1.4 cm...so after hearing others' stories I

wonder if it's something I should be concerned about or if it's so

small I shouldn't worry about it, especially after hearing about

one of 8 cm. It's just that I can feel that side developing in effort to

release an egg every month but the left side always wins out. I

wonder if it's possible to have one ovary with PCOS since that's

what it sounded like the tech was saying. Hmmmm.

Anyway, I read ahead and heard about how sick the pills made

you. But someone mentioned that there was something you

might be able to take for nausea at the same time. I hope to hear

about you feeling better. Even if not, let me hear from you okay?
