Guest guest
Welcome Breauxgerry. Katrina hit on my 50th birthday and my family and I adopted an African American woman for about six months. Are you back in the " Big Easy " or are you still out of town? I'm new here also but have found a wealth of information, love, and support! I am an African American and a survivor of breast cancer and just 6 months ago I survived Katrina. I lost all of my information about breast cancer and evry thing else that matters to me except my family. Thank you Lord, we only lost one family member she was my auntie and we sure do miss her. Praise God, I just know she is up there watching ovr us as we rebuild our home. I hope I will find some support and information in here. Are there any more members here who are African American? _________________________________________________________________ Don’t just search. Find. Guest guest
God will surely bless you for taking in that woman. I hope she is now a friend. Is she back home yet? I am still out of town but nearby. I am staying with family now but I was in a evacuation center for about a month. Gerry > > Welcome Breauxgerry. Guest guest
Welcome to the group. I never used to have to approve members, just moderate new people posts, however you wouldn't belive some of the people that try to join. So it left me no choice. I do not know if there are other African American women in the group but we do not discriminate against anyone, be it age, race etc. The only ones I have problems with are those trying to promote miracle cures, sex sites, dating sites and fakes that pretend to be breast cancer patients/survivors or here for a family member only to find out they have been lying. We don't get many of those but they do pop up every once in awhile. I hope you are able to rebuild and get back to normal. I will keep you in my prayers. Guest guest
My friend transferred to Houston where she is now engaged. She was originally from Nebraska, but moved here. She called to let everyone in the Shreveport office know where she was as everyone from our New Orleans office who came this way had called to let us know their status. When I asked where she was staying, she said she had been living in her car. I had a folding foam chair thing for my grandkids and she slept there. She would not let us bring a bed in for her, saying she was extremely comfortable. She spent Thanksgiving with us and Christmas with her fiance. I haven't heard from her since all of this has gone down with me because I just haven't called her. I know she would be here in a heartbeat if I called. I told her I always wanted a black sister! LOL Now I've gone one!!! Lee Anne Reply-To: breastcancer2 To: breastcancer2 Subject: Re: Good morning Date: Tue, 07 Mar 2006 16:00:08 -0000 God will surely bless you for taking in that woman.
