Guest guest
JJ, Tell me what you are doing exercise wise. I may try it. I am going to the gym now started this week. Now, I am planning on doing full body weights three times a week. Is that enough? I will do cardio 5 to 6 times a week for 45 minutes. Are you doing a lot more than that? Hope you can read this. a -- Good Morning Good Morning to you all,I am still not getting any mail from this group on my server. So I am going to the web site to read and post. Guest guest
My mail is coming in all over the place. I was only getting around 30 a day and then came home to over 500 messages. Dates were so out of sync. Was it my turn for a run in with the Yahoo mystery method of mail delivery? Guest guest
Hi there all you dear Challengers, I'm back. Actually I've been back a week but had so much mail stacked up that I'm just now getting caught up. Had a wonderful time with " Laru " and her brood. DH Rick is still a sweetie and just " loves his MIL " . Snerk, snerk, snerk. We did really well with our eating and I'm trying to " make do " with what I have since I got home. I spent almost all my money on the vacation and have to wait until payday on Friday to stock up again. EEEGADS I hate to be broke. Got a visit on Saturday from our insurance man who is from Jordan, and guess what!!!!!!. He is on a lo-carb diet (not Atkins), has lost weight and is feeling better all the time. He bet me that if I would just get serious I could break the big " 2-0-0 " in a month. Doesn't that sound exciting?? He DIDN'T know, however, that many of the fast food places will make you a double cheese burger and wrap it in lettuce leaves if you ask them thus eliminating the bun altogether. This was good news for him since he is on the road quite a bit. So here we go loves. " Once again into the breach " , whatever that means. I see we have acquired some newbys and I want to welcome you. I am " Mom Pudge " the unofficial Gramma of the list. What it really means is that I'm the oldest child and therefore have to set a good example. Actually I'm one of the worst examples but like I said " Once more into the breach " . We are so glad to have you on our list and will help you anyway we can. We play around a lot but if losing weight and feeling better isn't a lot of fun, I don't know what is. Feel free to share problems or ask any question you may have because ALL of us have " Been There, Done That " many times for some, and can usually come up with good suggestions or maybe just some encouraging words " and the skies are not cloudy all day " . So again " HI Y'ALL " and Welcome Newbies/ Love Mom Pudge, the returned prodigal daughter pudge@...

Her kids have inherited a lot of " Kari " and Karissa is a little Kari. Karissa and Junior look so much like their Mom it is eerie. I just hope they have inherited her drive and leadership. All kidding aside, she is my best friend and always seems to have that pitchfork in my butt urging me to break the big 2-0-0. And I love her dearly. Love Mom Pudge, the blessed one pudge@... I sure would be nice to get you through the month of June with no stalls. Think Positive! I just visited Fitday (thanks to Jayne's prodding) and it is a great site. Guest guest
You can do it, Mom, I know you can. Just take it one craving at a time. I sometimes have a large glass of water just before a time of day that i know is bad for cravings. Like I crave the minute i walk in the door from work so if I drink a large glass just before leaving work, I am less apt to eat when I walk in the door. Hang in there, you know it gets easier after a week or so. corkster -- Re: good morning And good morning to you too, ,You have made a most excellent start. Guest guest
And Good Morning to you Dear , Well today is June 1st. The first day of the " No Cheat " month, and I started it off in true " Mom Pudge " fashion with a case of 24 hr. STOMACH FLU. Guarantee no cheats today but I won't count the weight lose either (if there is any). Today is also pay day and when I go shopping I'm going to buy the foods I will be eating. I will try the the l-Glutamine for the cravings. It's crazy. I don't know what I want but my stomach is telling me " You want something, dummy. " It's a crazy thing. So anyway, aside from the fact that I am glued to the house today, the weather is perfect. It will be about 100 F today but cooler tomorrow blue skies and fluffy clouds. No haze to speak of and when I went out this morning to get the paper at 5:30 am, you could see the Sierra Nevada Mt. range all the way from North to South. Beautiful. I did manage to get the girls (my roses) watered and my son wants me to plant a sweet potato today because they make such pretty vines. Hope your day is perfect. Love Mom Pudge, the cramping one pudge@...
Guest guest
Thank you for the good suggestions Corkster, I am going to try the icewater ploy. My stomach runs by instinct anyway and probably won't realize I slipped something past it until it's time for afternoon snack or dinner. By the way, that pretty pink you sent me. I have a wild rose in the back that is just that color. It has a pale yellow center and is so lovely. Still a baby but hopefully will grow and spread out over the ground back there. Love to my Corkster, Mom Pudge pudge@... --

Guest guest
You know you're getting older when you get excited about SS checks, Dorothy. lol My husband died 5 years ago so I have been getting SS since I was 60. Sure helps...I am getting excited about getting Medicare.....lol The health insurance premiums are killing me.........thanks for all the advice about exercising, etc. I'm afraid I am very lax in that dept. and must get started. If you ever want to e-mail me privately, feel free.... rijoyce@... BTW, my maiden name was Dorothy and my mother's name is Dorothy Dorothy believe it or not.....lol rj Good Morning Well I'm 62 today- will start my social security checks in March- that's exciting. RJ I agree it is very hard as you get older and that most won't understand that. When I exercise at least 5 days a week then I can control the tummy area from expanding, after 4 children and no exercise for many years of my life this problem area can be controlled but not eliminated. My hips are 42 l/2 and were 4l for years and they seem to be stuck on that. The waist at it's lowest has been 33 l/2, it is 36 l/2 right now. I do l00 double waist twists daily in addition to the treadmill or an exercise tape to usually equal 25-30 minutes total and it is staying at that for some unknown reason and it might remain there, sad but true. For years I looked at the size in clothing especially jeans, poured myself into l5/l6's so that if I drank or ate when we went anywhere I was beyond miserable. Now I feel good and look good in Misses l7/l8 jeans, I am comfortable and actually look much better also and this has taken a long time to say to myself, hey so what if you are this size, yes you need to get rid of being in the l80's, you aren't 2l0 any longer and you won't be and you need to get to l70 and then you can say hey I am in maintenance. I have been l70 lots of times in these past few years and those few pounds actually don't make a lot of difference in my clothing. I have been maintaining l79-l8l for months and just went up to l83-l85 and I realize that it will slowly become l85-l87 and then keep moving upward. The only way to get off these pounds is to be accurate, measure and realize what I am putting in my body daily. I also have the added problem of managing glucose and this is a learning process. Happy belated birthday to Mitch, I am reading back posts to get to know all of you. The list isn't coming to my email box so I'm at the groups site, hopefully it will soon and I know this is a Yahoo glitch. Have a wonderful day everyone. We're going to the Sizzler this afternoon for my lunch. I do very well on salad bars as I avoid the dressing which adds up the fat, calories and points. Guest guest
Thanks so much for the desktop calculator that will calculate more than the 4 grams of fiber- much much appreciated. Yes I'll be writing to you personally. I too am waiting for medicare then the birthdays can just stop. My hubby will be 68 next week and has medicare and the supplemental policy and we've never paid anything except for the premiums. I'm without health care except for a major medical policy and it's not fun. Dorothy
