Guest guest
Although Bert did not have this problem, my mother did when she was on chemo for lung cancer. More than one doctor recommened Metamucil and it worked beutifully. Guest guest
Carol, are you taking " Gentle Iron " ? If not, try that kind, it's by Solgar. It is specifically designed to be a non-constipating iron. Iron is known to cause constipation. My nurses told me to take this and it seemed to work. Good luck. > I would like to know if anyone can offer me advice on how to deal > with constipation that I have been experiencing while on my chemo > treatments. It makes me feel miserable. Guest guest
There are a variety of stool softeners and fiber-based laxatives on the market. When my husband began having this problem,I bought docusate calcium 240mg(Brand name:Surfak)because it is a stool softener only and usually does not cause cramping like some of the other ones that contain docusate sodium. It's not an instant fix,can take up to 72 hours to work but taken regularly it makes the stool easier to pass, resulting in better regularity. Fiber-laxatives like metamucil are very good if he can tolerate them, hubby couldn't. > > I would like to know if anyone can offer me advice on how to deal > > with constipation that I have been experiencing while on my chemo > > treatments. Guest guest
I had had serious diarrea for more than 30 years that was somewhat controlled by a gluten-free diet. I had had a pain (ileum) off and on for six or seven years. No-one seemed to think this of any consequence. I then got a swollen shoulder bone (can't remember the medical term) but my GP (who is actually rather good and fully supports SCD) didn't recognise the symptom. It took a lot of trial and error before all the symptoms went away. Quite early on the diarrhea disappeared (one month) and then the pain (four months) and gradually I got acceptable stools in the morning (more than a year). I think what is really encouraging is that even when I eat illegals (not on purpose and only in undetectable quantities) the diarrhea does not come back, I just get liquid stools in the morning. But there are still lots of things I haven't tried yet, like fruit peel and lettuce and lentils. I am just so impressed with Marilyn and hope to be there one day. CD diagnosed Sept 2006 SCD since Oct 2006 No symptoms No meds J’utilise la version gratuite de SPAMfighter pour utilisateurs privés.Jusqu’à présent SPAMfighter a bloqué 1581 courriels spam.Nous avons en ce moment 5.8 millions d’utilisateurs de par le monde entier. Guest guest
When a friend cooks and tells you it's ok for you you tend to believe her. When afterwards she mentions she put maple syrup in the cabbage, you wonder how much she has really understood.
