Guest guest
<<Regular, daily users of paracetamol - known as acetaminophen in some countries - double the risk of contracting asthma, according to the journal Thorax. And even taking a pill once a week increases the risk by 80 per cent. Researchers from Guy's, King's and St 's School of Medicine, London, UK, compared people who take paracetamol with those who take aspirin. More than 1,500 young adults were studied over the course of a year. Researcher Dr Seif Shaheen said it was thought that paracetamol reduce levels of a chemical called glutathione which protects the lungs from pollutants and dangerous chemical reactions. They said people who used paracetamol regularly should try to cut down. They should not switch to aspirin which can cause serious stomach ulcers. >> --------------------------------- Englemed Health News This Week http://www.englemed.demon.co.uk/thisweek.htm --------------------------------- REGARDS, ray - ____________________________________________________________________ Get free email and a permanent address at http://www.netaddress.com/?N=
