(thank goodness for journals and calenders...:-) it's been since ? Sept/Oct. 04 since finishing tx. Still having lot's of "ill" side effects..........as for my eyes......still to this day I have spells where everything goes blurry for a few moments....then comes back.........it is SO werid!!!!! I did NOT have my glasses changed during chemo........waited a bit.....and script DID change ....but ever so slightly........ I have had lot's of cognitive changes since chemo...(and at first I thought it was all in my head!!!!!.......silly me) I'm doing speech therapy at this point........"and I thought speech therapy was all about talking.......was I wrong"...... Guest guest Posted March 6, 2006 Report Share Posted March 6, 2006 I think some of the effects of Adriamycin and Cytoxin must be forever because the blood bank (where I used to donate to the company account every 8 weeks for over 15 years) refuses to accept my blood and told me my organs can not be used for transplants either. Guest guest Posted March 6, 2006 Report Share Posted March 6, 2006 When I was going through chemo almost 11 years ago the dr. told me to use saline drops when my eyes bothered me. He assured me it would get better when chemo stopped. I still have problems sometimes. And I know several women here that have the same problem. The first time I had my eyes checked after chemo the eye dr. was positive that I was having problems with my sugar. Said nothing else would change my eyes that much. He didn't think that chemo or tamoxifen would do it. Well that was the last time I saw him. The next eye dr. said well of course chemo and tamoxifen affects your eyes....duh. Other changes since chemo is that my energy level while higher than alot of people that never had treatment is still lower than it was before and sometimes it is a tired like no other. Like someone turned on a faucet and drained all the energy out. And I don't think I learn as easily as I did before. But the good thing is that in July I will be and 11 year survivor So I can deal with this. The doctors probably just focus on the benefits of the chemo and give the best-case scenario for all the side-effects. They want to know if any chances are happening with me. and when i say yes and what the changes r .he says that has nothing to do with chemo. or he wants to the chemo is over to tell the side effects .he should of told me all this before hand. and the things he didnt tell me i have learned alot of women have the same side effects i have. know i know its not just me ..the chemo and meds have alot to do with this breast cancer. and yes we can fight this .but for chris reeves wife she couldnt fight lung cancer and she never smoked. makes u wonder huh ?Frieda Vasco wrote: I am with you on that, The more I see the dr.
