Guest guest
You make a very valid point, Terri. My sister, who is single, does Weight Watchers. She never uses the recipes I send her because they would " feed an army. " She eats totally differently than I do. I know my biggest struggle in searching for recipes is being able to find something that everyone will eat. I do not make my meal and then theirs. So something that looks wonderful to me might not ever get tried because I know DH or DS wouldn't eat it. And then there's the fact that I'm vegetablely challenged. lol (however you spell that nonword.) Anything that has green in it is an instant turnoff, but I'm learning. Slowly. I'll eat salads, but when i see green pepper in a recipe, it's instantly ewwww. We all have likes, dislikes, and different situations. Here's to all of us! Lyn Differenences Hi all, Just wanted to post on a subject that is a big issue to all concerned. We all post about our " family life style " eating. But we are so different. Although we all face many of the same issues, our lifestyles are very different from one another, and I think it makes a diffreence on how we approach things. For instance, there are a few members who are single, there are some who are married or " with " a partner but no children, there are others with one child, others with many children, etc. etc.. Some of us have NO idea what the others go thru on a daily basis where meals are concerned. For example, if you only have yourself to worry about, I am not saying it is easy, but I am saying, it is only YOU and not others you are concerned with. The people who are cooking for a family (I personally give a lot of credit to because even tho they can influence the outcome of the meal, they also get bashed from family about what they serve, etc. Those of you who have not dealt with this do not know how hard this is. It can be done, and from what I have read on this group, we are all working toward this. Just wanted to let people know that I understand how hard it is when you have to work this program WITH others in your family. It can be done, and it can be a good influence on them, but it is more difficult than doing it on your own. Guest guest
Lyn, a meal that's guaranteed to please is the WW recipe from an old " Week 5 " card - Chicken'n Cheese Casserole. Not a veggie in sight - LOL. Let me know if you want me to email it to you. We had this on Sunday night. I was hoping for leftovers to take to work the next day -- yeah right. I had my 1/6th portion -- the rest of the family had 2+ servings... (lesson - next time, make two!). Jodi Differenences Hi all, Just wanted to post on a subject that is a big issue to all concerned. Guest guest
Hi Jodi! Could I get that recipe from you? It sounds good! Also, your name says vball mom. I played volleyball for 8 years, including 1 year of college, and coached for 2. Nice to see someone who is involved in vball! in OKC <>< 238/218.8/215 > Lyn, a meal that's guaranteed to please is the WW recipe from an old " Week 5 " card - Chicken'n Cheese Casserole. > Not a veggie in sight - LOL. > > Let me know if you want me to email it to you. Guest guest
Sounds good to me! We had roast beef, and I'd added potatoes and carrots to the pan for the last hour of roasting. I used spray butter on the potatoes. Audrey Re: Differenences What do you guys think (not sure who is listmom over there) if we post a daily " what's for dinner " on the WW recipe group? Guest guest
I agree... it is more difficult for me to lose weight than my sister who just had a baby. Her hubby is more of a snacker type... he eats salad, cheese and a glass of wine for dinner, so my sister can make herself what she wantes. One of my difficulties is that our kids are so thin. I have gotten a call from my daughter's school before wondering if she has an eating disorder... (she doesn't eats more than I do, and hates to throw up... but she has the genes I had until a few years ago) and our son is ADHD... so his meds are actually curb his hunger for lunch... so eats a huge breakfast, and huge dinner, nibbles for lunch and drinks milk... so... I don't want them eating what I am eating to lose weight. My husband is really good, as he is over weight also. He is going to eat whatever I cook him... but... he is also diabetic, so I struggle with having to make sure I don't short him in some areas... as, he does need some sugars... just limited. It is also dangerous for him to have to low of sugar. I understand what you mean... it is difficult for all of us, but more complicated when we not only worry about our plates but our whole families plates too. > Hi all, > > Just wanted to post on a subject that is a big issue to all > concerned. Guest guest
Terri, I find that when I was a single mom (just dd and I) it was much easier too than since I have been remarried. DH likes cheese, butter and oil on/in everything - eeewwww. DD and I were perfectly happy with grilled cheese (made with butter spray) and salad or soup for dinner and never thought a thing of it. I do try to make the same thing for everyone but sometimes I do have to make extra or different veggies for me. Also DH likes rolls and bread with dinner and I just do not have the points for that! It is always interesting. The only veggie DH will eat is corn, canned peas or butter beans - that is it! DD and I could grocery shop for like $20 a week even with some " treats " . Now with DH it is like I am feeding an army. I grew up mostly with my mom (a single mom too) so I was used to having light " girl dinners " - this is new for me for sure! Last nite's dinner was definitely NOT a good experience - LOL. I am lucky to have a husband who loves me. Guest guest
We do this on a FLY group that I am part of. It is great because someone is having something really good and you are like - " Oh, I'll make that! " Sometimes I need a reminder because I could eat the same thing every night for weeks! jenn Re: Differenences What do you guys think (not sure who is listmom over there) if we post a daily " what's for dinner " on the WW recipe group? Guest guest
Mine is salad with grilled chicken on top - I could eat that forever. I also don't really care what I eat. I can whip open a can of green beans and have some deli turkey slices and a few cheese cubes and call it dinner. He IS NOT ok with that - lol Jenn Re: Differenences Oh Jen! Guest guest
I eat what ever I want. Hubby will eat what I make him. He lost a lot of weight himself. I sometimes make things for the both of us. Oh shucks, I could have made spaghetti and meat tonight. Oh well. He is coming home later tonight. I wonder if he will be very hungry. I have no kids so I don't need to make food for them. Each family does what is best for themselves. I also believe people can eat one meal that is made that everyone likes to make it easier on the person cooking. This was an interesting topic. Guest guest
A house with children and teens is bound to be different on the grocery bill and cooking than a house with 2 grown up's. We have our different likes and I just cook and buy as such. Meal cooking is not a big deal here as we both pretty much like the same veggies and protein etc. The challenge in my house for a weight watcher can be the snack foods and the extra sweets that hubbby likes now and then. ...................................................................
