Guest guest
I believe it is the same. I think endocrinologist is a word for specialist. Then reproduction would be the kind of specialist. Pam

Guest guest
No... they aren't the same. An endocrinologist is someone who deals with hormonal imbalances, etc... My sister-in-law sees an endo as she has hyperthyroidism and insulin resistance (possibly PCOS). An RE (which I see) is someone who helps you to become pg through fertility drugs and/or artificial reproductive techniques. RE's are specifically for people who are trying to conceive, whereas a normal endocrinologist is for people who aren't necessarily ttc. Amber > > > I believe it is the same. Guest guest
Amber, I went to an endocrinologist as a kid for delayed puberty. I was a very tiny kid and underdeveloped for my age so they ran a lot of tests on hormone levels, etc. I now go to RE which are specifically in the business in helping women with fertility issues. I wonder if maybe your doctor mentioned an endocrinologist on purpose because she's worried about a hormonal imbalance or something delaying your cycle or if she meant an RE. They would do the hormonal testing as well. Dominique

Guest guest
Amber I realize an RE is for IVF etc only. But there are endo's in other fields besides womens issues. An endo is a type of specialist. An RE is a reproduction specialist. Pam
Guest guest
My insurance does not cover an IF either. I had to get a referral from my primary care to see my RE. They covered up until I was diagnosed. So maybe they will cover some of your appts. Pam
