Guest guest
Deat , When I got a similar thing in December, I developed horrible muscle cramps in both my legs. I could not walk, and was fainting. My husband wanted to call an ambulance, so I asked him to massage my legs. I am sure this was from dehydration. Even tho I have diabetes, my endo said to use Gatoraid. It did help, and some use Pedialyte. Watch for dehydration because this can cause cardiac problems. Please feel better soon, . You are on my prayer list.
Guest guest
, I just got a note in the mail from my endo--I had been in for an appt 2 days before I got the stomach virus and sent in my food records with 2 days I did not eat--just drink water and diet soda. The nurse wrote back and said to still take my insulin and to take calorie foods. Of cours it is buried at the botom of the pile of papers on my desk but I remember mentioning sports drinks with electrolytes and clear jello. I am sure pedialyte would be good. I do not like gatoraid but the all sport was not too bad but I was thinking of the grape pedialyte. Guest guest
Janet Pedialyte has a lot less sugar in it. Not eating can cause blood sugar to go up, so be sure and check your levels. Guest guest
Laurie, that is what I thought too, pedialyte has less sugar so I was surprised when I got the written note suggesting gatorade and other sport drinks. Anyway, I like the taste of pedialyte vs gatorade better , stomach virus > > > > > >> Deat , > >> When I got a similar thing in December, I developed horrible muscle > >> cramps in both my legs. Guest guest
Janet I think that many don't think of it for adults as it is a kid's drink. We are kid's at heart, aren't we? laurie > > Reply-To: > Date: Sat, 22 Mar 2003 18:29:18 -0600 > To: < > > Subject: Re: , stomach virus > > Laurie, > > that is what I thought too, pedialyte has less sugar so I was surprised when > I got the written note suggesting gatorade and other sport drinks. > > Anyway, I like the taste of pedialyte vs gatorade better > , stomach virus >>> >>> >>>> Deat , >>>> When I got a similar thing in December, I developed horrible muscle >>>> cramps in both my legs. Guest guest
So sorry you're feeling poorly, I hope you guys get more answers on your illnesses. Gatorade works well for me, and I actually have problems with Pedialyte. One of the problems is that some kinds of Pedialyte have Aspartame (artificial sweetener), that I try to stay away from. Be sure to read the label, sometimes low sugar = artificial sweeteners. Lots of water is always good, and some of the health shakes (not SlimFast) from health food stores may help. I use Spirutein shakes to help me when I can't eat. Fruit is always a good idea if you can tolerate it, applesauce is good too (try the natural style, without added sugar). About leg cramps, I've been getting more and more cramps, mainly leg but some arm, and also pins and needles (tingling) in my feet and hands. Take care, RH
