Guest guest
Lizzie My eyes have gotten worse since chemo even though my oncologist says that the chemo does not affect them. But my chemo was 14 years ago so I don't know how much is just normal aging. My eye doctor seems to think some of the problems are from the chemo, but once again, no one is for sure. hugs Pam
Guest guest
Dear Frieda, Your statement is not stupid at all!!! Please don't ever think that any question, comment, etc. is dumb. When I was in chemo, my eyes were watery - ALL the time. My nose also ran constantly. If your eyes hurt, you can ask your doctor about some soothing eye drops. Surprised your onc didn't know this was a common side effect of chemo - I know many, many women who have had the same problem. Guest guest
had Adriamycin & Cytoxan - last dose Jan. 25. It took 3-4 weeks for my taste buds to start going back to normal. I think I'm seeing some patches of hair on my scalp, but my eyelashes and eyebrows are starting to fall out and my fingernails have black spots. Hi , Are you doing anything else after the A/C? Did you do 8 treatments of A/C? Or just 4? Then nothing??? Your Onc didn't put you on anything else? Totally interested to know why, if they didn't. Guest guest
Hi Lizzie, It depends what chemo you had. I heard 7-8 weeks for the side effects to go. I had Adriamycin & Cytoxan - last dose Jan. 25. It took 3-4 weeks for my taste buds to start going back to normal. I think I'm seeing some patches of hair on my scalp, but my eyelashes and eyebrows are starting to fall out and my fingernails have black spots. I also think my vision has gotten worse, but I'm waiting for another month or so, then will get an eye checkup. - Frieda Vasco wrote on 3/6/2006, 11:27 AM: Thank you very much,How lond does it take for the chemo to get out of your body? Guest guest
Hi Dari, I did 4 treatments of AC (dose-dense). I am now on a year of Herceptin. My tumor is er/pr negative so I'm not a candiadate for those 5-year pills. When my doctor first told me I was er/pr neg. and wouldn't take those pills, I thought "great! Don't have to deal with 5 years of pills." Then I found out that an er/pr neg. tumor can be more aggressive and there are fewer treatment options other than the chemo. So the Herceptin is great news for those of us who are her2 positive and er/pr negative. Herceptin is called a biological drug rather than a chemo drug, because it supposedly targets the tumor rather than your whole body. Of course it still has side effects and it is administered via IV, but I feel so much better than when I was getting AC. - fastest2@... wrote on 3/6/2006, 2:11 PM: In a message dated 3/6/2006 12:46:21 PM Central Standard Time, nana112956@... writes: had Adriamycin & Cytoxan - last dose Jan. 25.
