Hi June and all,

No, I wasnt offended at all with your comment. I know a lot of people think

people should not smoke. I know I shouldnt, but I do anyway, for now. Like I

said before, when I decide to quit, I am going to use a hypnotherapist, and make

it easier on me. But it wont be any time in the next month or so.

Keep your great e mails coming! :)

I wanted to make it clear to everyone that I wasn't meaning to berate for smoking in my post about all the things we do that contribute to polluting people's air and water when I said, I don't agree with her smoking. I know the addiction quite well and know what she's going through and how she feels. If it's going to take her time to get past that then that's what she needs to do. I just hope she does it soon.

So , I hope you didn't take it as anything but what I meant, just that I don't agree, not that I don't fully understand. It would be very easy during my stress to pick up the habit again. I've quit many times over the years and then, for no stupid reason thought I could handle a pack, or would buy a pack for someone else I knew smokes and take for or 6 out. Just this once, to get me through a stressful time. Yea right. I even know that I'm playing with fire, quite literally, when I have my one a month. Then I crave for 2 or 3 days and I always kick myself.

Anyway, my way of an apology if I made you feel bad.

I was trying to quit smoking when I was diagnosed in 1999. When I

went to the surgeon for my first consult, he saw the Nicoderm patch

and said " Honey, this might not be the best time to try to quit. You

do need to quit for your overall health, but you have a lot of

stress ahead of you and that will just add to it. " I kept smoking

for another 3 years before I finally just went cold turkey. Still

have the cravings though, especially when I get upset or tired.

Hugs,

Merry CHRISTmas to everyone!

___________

,

Thanks for writing. It is funny how every doctor seems to have a different

stance on smoking. At least 2 of my doctors thought it wasnt worse for me than

just breathing outside. None of my doctors have gotten their backs up about my

smoking, but I know other doctors are dead set against it. I will go " cold

turkey " too when the time comes, use hypnosis, and a patch.
