I applied for Social Security a few months ago since I was sleeping

all the time before, during and after dialysis and there was no way I

could work. Well I got a call today, my case worker said they will

send me checks until they can decide if I'm eligable which could take

up to 6 months. I've never heard of them doing this before, but I

don't think I know many adults who gets Social Security. I hear

stories about how people have to re-apply 2 or 3 times and it takes a

year or two before they see any help. I AM NOT COMPLAINING. I just

don't understand the system. In the past 10 years I've worked 7 jobs

and kept only one of them for almost 2 years. I took 3 years off

after I got rear-ended by a Dodge Ram 1500 in the late 90's, I also

had my son during that time. Most of my jobs lasted 6 months or less

and I'm really surprised they haven't already denied me.

Well my bed is calling me and my eyes agree.

That is great news . I am so glad you can get some financial relief. I

thought that dialysis automatically qualified you, but maybe you have to have

enough work credits. In any case, I am very happy they approved you.

it's my understanding that once you are already on dialysis it is

MUCH easier to get onto Social Security. It's those people who are close

but not yet on dialysis that have the major problems proving that they are

disabled. Once on dialysis you are technically disabled as far as USA law

is concerned. I'm glad to hear they are going to help you out while your

application is being processed, it's a good sign that you will be accepted

easily. Congrats!

, You can not be denied social security disability benefits if

you are a dialysis patient. At least that's what my Neph. said.

That's probably why they did yours so quickly. Many of our patients

will start getting checks even before we send the requested info. to

social security. I'm glad to hear that you're going to get what you

need. - Shara
