I work for a professional organization of pharmacists, and I just wanted to

point out that

new research indicates that there is no benefit to using cough medicine! So you

might just

want to skip it.

Do you mean the study that evaulated just 100 children for only 1

night? I've read several articles on it, and according to some of the

reviewers the study was too small and too short to actually be meaningful.

My son, asthmatic and slightly immuno-compromised, does much better

with a cough syrup/decongestant combo recommended by his doctor. He,

like probably a lot of kids with stuffy/runny noses, coughs at night

when the mucus drips in his throat. The decongestant helps stop that.

Actually have checked that, but in his case, it's allergies combined

with a high susceptibility to respiratory infections. Now that we're

homeschooling and he's catching fewer bugs, things are improving.
