Doctor was offended I asked questions!

I am new to the group, but have been reading everyone else's posts

for a few weeks. I am 40 yrs old, and have been diagnosed with

fibroids, anemia, enlarged uterus. I switched doctors recently

because my last doctor (a woman, believe it or not), just did a D & C,

and never checked on me after that. My excessive bleeding, painful

periods, and anemia have only gotton worse since then.

My GP suggested I see his wife's gyn, so I did. When I got there,

I found out my GP did his residency there ( a little biased, wouldn't

you say?). The gyn did a pap and exam, and said " Your uterus is

enlarged, filling the abdominal cavity. It has to come out. " then he

proceded to tell the nurse/receptionist to schedule. WHOA!!!! Hold

on a minute. I told him I wanted to think about it and discuss it

with my husband/mother/friends, etc.

Well, I went back today, husband in tow, for a consultation. First

question was why he never offered options. Right away he was

offended. He said that was the usual procedure. I said that doesn't

necessarily mean it's the best procedure. He told me he wouldn't

perform ANY surgery on me AT ALL (obviously because I wouldn't just

lie down and let him rip me apart).

Now I'm back to square one. Oh, well. Carla? Anybody? Any

suggestions?

Is there an agency to report docs like this to? Maybe you should

write a letter to your states medical board.

Find another gyn. You don't need this loser!
