Guest guest
Hope everything goes well for your SIL, . As for your groan about visiting, i think this is fairly common practice all over. Certainly all 3 of my local hospitals have this policy. > > The other thing that has peeved me is that if I want to visit I will have to > leave DS behind as they have rules re. children other than the mother's > children visiting. Guest guest
Well I must lead a sheltered life, because I had never heard of this hospital rule, but I have been informed that apparently it is because of germs! I can understand it from a overwhelming noisy kids point of view, but not that my child has more germs than any adult! :-( Thanks for your replies, still waiting to hear some news - DS is having a moan in the other room because he doesn't want a fresh nappy on! More groans! Regards

They also only allow limited numbers at the bedside, and have quite short hours for anybody other than the father. [Lesley]......Having been brought to tears by the noise from other peoples families at visiting time, I just wish the rule was more strictly enforced!! and said...Well I must lead a sheltered life, because I had never heard of this hospital rule, but I have been informed that apparently it is because of germs! [Lesley] DS1 fell over and cut his head in the Mat Unit when he came with DH to visit me and one day old DS2. I was not allowed to accompany him to casualty because of 'germs'. 3 weeks later I needed a D & C and took DS2 into hospital with me. This time, I was not allowed into Mat Unit for supplies because of 'germs'. This was all over 20 yrs ago and the hospital is now shut.
