Guest guest
Hi Karla, > Could some one please tell me if honey, > liquid and clear, but NOT pasturized is legal? As long as it is pure, 100% clear honey it is legal. Make sure the container/bottle says either pure, 100%, or 100% pure honey. Otherwise it may be cut with corn syrup or other illegals (happened to me and ended in a flare-up). Guest guest
Hi Karla, No Name has two bottles: the 1 Kg size and the 750 mL size. I believe the 750 mL says either Pure honey or 100% Pure and the 1 Kg bottle just says honey. The large bottle of No Name is what made me sick. I find that Bee Pure honey 1 Kg bottle is cheaper at my Super Store subsidiary, than the 750 mL bottle of No Name. Guest guest
hmmmm. The bottle said: NATURAL<UNPASTURIZED< GRADE NO.1 GOLDEN> a blend of Australian and Argentine honey. What do you think? Does it look like the type that tripped you up? Guest guest
For me, it would all depend on what " natural " is allowed to mean in Canada and whether or not manufacturers have the freedom to omit ingredients from labels under certain circumstances. http://www.inspection.gc.ca/english/fssa/labeti/guide/ch12e.shtml I found Canadian regulations for honey, if you are curious enough to suffer through reading it! It sounds like Canada requires all ingredients to be listed on the container, especially if it is a Canadian product. I just scanned it, though. If the honey does not fall under the regulations, it looks like the container MUST have the name/address of the producer so you can contact them. Happy reading! Pam > > > hmmmm. Guest guest
Hi, again. O.K, I didn't give up that quickly. I called the company and they had to look it up and call me back. Apparantly it is 100% pure honey. Do I give it a try? Does it matter that it says golden? I am unable to see it through the package. > >Reply-To: pecanbread >To: pecanbread >Subject: Re: honey >Date: Fri, 04 Feb 2005 16:30:59 -0000 > > >For me, it would all depend on what " natural " is allowed to mean in >Canada and whether or not manufacturers have the freedom to omit >ingredients from labels under certain circumstances. > >http://www.inspection.gc.ca/english/fssa/labeti/guide/ch12e.shtml > >I found Canadian regulations for honey, if you are curious enough to >suffer through reading it! > >It sounds like Canada requires all ingredients to be listed on the >container, especially if it is a Canadian product. My problem may have stemed from being unpasteurized. Pasteurized honey is usually filtered. I use Bee now and if you put it on your finger (which I just did) you can see that it is clear and golden coloured- not cloudy. So, if the No Name honey is pure and not cloudy (pollen removed) it is okay. Sheila, SCD 48 mos, 20 yrs UC mom of , SCD 33 mos
