Guest guest
I also have asthma. Try yoga. It's very low impact and surprisingly tones you. I've been doing it for almost 4yrs and love it! There's excellent begginer videos out there, but the best I think is taking a class. Check out your park district. Also swimming is suppose to be excellent for the lungs. I've been taking singulair for years, but it didn't completely control my asthma. My Dr. put me on Advair (purple disk inhaler) 2yrs ago and I haven't had an episode since. Also asthma does get better as you lose weight. Good luck and hope this helps a bit. Guest guest
My son’s asthma has been radically improved since going gf. I’ve wondered if that means he has an actual wheat allergy in addition to CD. He hasn’t had a serious episode in the 2 yrs gf but he does still maintain his maintenance meds. He hasn’t had as many sinus infections either. Becky From: SillyYaks [mailto:SillyYaks ] On Behalf Of esther_p210 Sent: Saturday, January 07, 2006 5:36 PM To: SillyYaks Subject: asthma My asthma has become worse since I went gluten-free. Other than giving up Honey Dew and Tim Horton's donuts, this is about my only real complaint about GF living. I'm wondering if any one else has found asthma to be worse since going GF. And I wonder what could be causing it. My hubby has noticed that my asthma has become quite a bit worse since GF. He wonders if by eating GF I have introduced some allergen into my diet that's triggering the asthma. For example, I don't think I ever had much use for quinoa and buckwheat before going GF. Could introduction of quinoa, garbanzo bean flour, tapioca, buckwheat and other new things be causing my asthma flare-ups? I suppose I should get off my behind and start keeping a detailed food log to see if I can find a culprit. But in the meantime, I'm wondering if any one here has any similar experience and/or advice to offer me. Esther in RI
Guest guest
I am not a doctor, but from what I have read the reduction in asthma and sinus infections would not necessarily indicate a wheat allergy rather than celiac. That's one of the tricky parts of CD. Many times those are the only symptoms someone has. Gluten can cause inflammation anywhere in the body - not just the intestinal tract.
