All,

I would like to share my 15 month post UAE status:

On December 30, 2002, 16 months post UAE, I will have a Laproscopic

Myomectomy. Primarily because I still have to get up at night to urinate.

I'm tired and desperate for sleep.

I'm 42 years old. Done having children.

Pre-UAE Fibroid: 10cm size part intramural/part subserosal fibroid, ~

17month size uterus, Blood Clots during period, waking up 2 to 4 times at

night to urinate, pain when bowels not relieved, periods spaced less than 21

days apart, tummy.

15 months post UAE status:

7cm size part Intramural/part subserosal fibroid, ~ 14 month size uterus, no

blood clots during period, waking 1 to 2 times at night to urinate, no pain

when bowels not relieved, periods are now spaced ~21 days apart, but period

still lasts about 8 days, still have tummy.

I consider myself ~ 40% healed by the UAE, but not satisfied. I want to

sleep, and I want to get rid of my tummy.

I found a specialist in Fort Worth, Texas (I live in Austin,TX), Dr. Alan

s, that will perform the laproscopic myomectomy. However, I've agreed

w/ him that if during the lap myo he finds too many fibroids he's allowed to

convert to a lap hysterectomy during the procedure. His concern is my

fibroid is so big my uterus will literally be cut open in half to remove the

fibroids, this means a huge stitching. He says that adhesions are more

prevalent when the fibroid is posterior, my fibroid is anterior. He also

says all myo's have adhesions, just some are not symptomatic. He's telling

me it will take me about 2.5 weeks to recover from a lap myo and 3.5 weeks

to recover from a lap hysto.

He also tells me even though I've had a UAE, I can still develop/grow

fibroids after the lap myo because my uterus still has the blood supply from

the ovaries.

Words of wisdom are welcomed,

- Debbie
