Guest guest
Vivian, You will find Dr. Cohen to be a very compassionate person. He is good at pointing us in the direction we need to be going. I really like him a lot and I see him as do all four of my children. Just so you know.. in case you don't... Dr. Cohen doesn't just deal with Mito. on a doctor level. He also deals with it in a personal way as well. I wish you all the best. Please keep us posted.
Guest guest
Vivian I would suggest writing some questions down for yourself for this appointment, but Dr. Cohen does lots of questioning the first appointment. He is very easy to talk to and will make sure you understand and will give you options when possible. laurie > > Reply-To: > Date: Fri, 14 Mar 2003 21:24:03 -0600 > To: < > > Subject: going to cleveland > > > My son has an appointment with Dr. Cohen on March 25th. > > > Now that it is here, I'm nervous about it.I don't even know what I want > except for Dr. Cohen to point me in some direction and to tell me if my > family should even pursue this diagnosis. > > Does anyone have any suggestions for seeing Dr. Cohen? Guest guest
I am looking forward to it because I have the impression that he is a kind man. I have letters from Jack’s pediatrician, my neurologist and my internist…and all the records I can gather, in order according to what type…ie. Mri, blood, etc. I am also putting a short history together about me, and the other two kids, hoping like a detective that I will be giving him what he needs to help us. It’s just that I have been so disappointed in the past by doctors who were having a bad day, or just didn’t know what they were talking about. Oh well. Thanks for the input. Guest guest
Oh , Thanks for the reply. It along with Laurie’s fills me with hope. If anyone prays out here…please pray for this visit on March 25th. Thanks, Vivian Re: going to cleveland Vivian, You will find Dr. Cohen to be a very compassionate person. Guest guest
Vivian, Dr. Cohen is a very nice doctor and and is also very thorough. My rec. to you would be to go prepared with a list of questions. If you don't chime in and start asking questions alot of your concerns may not get addressed. If you ask he is very willing answer and explain more thoroughly. Best of Luck to you.
Guest guest
Vivian, This is wonderful news as you have gotten an appointment with a doctor who is well known for his treatment of Mito patients. He has written many of the published articles about mito and you will find many of those in our files. You can be sure that he will comfort you with the information he provides. You have been given a lot of information on what to bring him. One thing you should be sure to do is start now to write down all your questions as when you get there, you are not going to be able to remember a thing. Good luck with the appointment. I hope you start feeling better. It's probably a good idea to tell Dr Cohen about your own symptoms. I'm sure he will listen. He always does. Guest guest
Thanks , O.K. this may sound crazy…but what questions would you recommend…so that I don’t get home and wish I had asked something else. Guest guest
Vivian, I think your questions need to be tailored to your own needs and concerns, but in general I was wanting to know about further testing, treatment, prognosis. We are in the process of building a new home and I needed to know things about making the house more accessible for me, ie elevator, ramps, a bar in the shower, etc. I also wrote out a list of any and all symptoms I ever experience because I thought that might be helpful for Dr. Cohen to put the peices together in my case. Plus if you have ALOT of symptoms then you may forget a few when you are sitting there listing them off to him.
Guest guest
Vivian Something else Dr. Cohen was interested in our family was when family members died and their symptoms in order to see if there was any pattern that might indicate mtDNA transmission. laurie > From: LILQT4U1984@... > Reply-To: > Date: Sun, 16 Mar 2003 08:15:23 EST > To: > Subject: Re: going to cleveland > > Vivian, > > I think your questions need to be tailored to your own needs and > concerns, but in general I was wanting to know about further testing, > treatment, prognosis.
