Guest guest
Ann I just went to your site and bought 4 of your hats. Thank you for making them available. My first chemo treatment is Monday. Don't know how soon my hair will start to spring loose but I want to be ready. Trisha -- RE: I get SSI Hi Folks, Well, I guess I'm one of the few who was granted SSI - on my first try. I don't think there's much of a trick to it - other than abject poverty. Basically, you are granted SSI if you have NO assets. By the time I applied for SSI and got it we had already lost our home to foreclosure, sold our old car to keep the lights on, and were literally selling all our belongings on eBay. In addition, I was diagnosed with Inflammatory Breast Cancer which is listed as terminal in the book SSI uses. My husband's small business, which he had his entire adult life, hit the skids at the time of my diagnosis. My being in treatment, the constant trips for chemo, etc., etc. didn't give him much time to try to save it. He is 61, his business is gone, he's in poor health now, and unemployable. I have severe physical limitations from the aggressive treatment IBC requires - probably why I only had to apply once. So, every month I get a check from the SSI for $541.00. We live on that and whatever I can make selling my chemo hats - which believe me, isn't enough. So, from my perspective, you get approved for SSI if you're REALLY poor. As for cases of abuse, I'm sure they exist - but I'd like to think that most people receiving aid depend on it to survive. How do I survive? I rely on the two P's - Prayers and Prozac!
